I cannot believe we waited so long before we went to La Cote D'Or! We made reservations for the Thanksgiving Day pre-fixe service and were blown away by the food and the hospitality. Everything from the drinks to the dessert was outstanding. We definitely will return very soon!

Review №2

This is a neighborhood gem. My husband and I had our first date here so it will always be special, but far beyond nostalgia. It's a true escape (even sitting right on Lee Highway!), exquisite and not overdone or too-fancy food, true to French tradition but modernized and personalized. Waitstaff are very professional. Every visit is calming and full of joy. I can't wait to go back. Just wish they still did breakfast sandwiches, they were the BEST!

Review №3

Nice small restaurant, very friendly with the right volume French music stile "Radio Nostalgie".I would recommend them to add more vegetarian options, because after the fish and the vegetable lasagna, there is no other option for me.It was delicious!

Review №4

So good! I went here, then went to Le Diplomat a week later, and this restaurant is by far a better French restaurant! Loved the seafood crepes

Review №5

I ordered takeout from their Restaurant Week prixe fixe menu. It was AMAZING. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend the pate appetizer as well as the salad with smoked salmon, avocado, and mango. My favorite entree was the trout. It was really delicious. Also the food was piping hot so very freshly made in time for the pickup time I requested. You really can't go wrong ordering food from this Arlington/Falls Church long term gem.

Review №6

The food is so good, even as takeout. I love that they have a good selection of fish. Everything's been delicious.

Review №7

Amazing french food. The waiter was so courteous. It is not expensive at all. About 25 for a three course meal. They have a coconut mimosa that's just excellent. Cant believe I've lived in Arlington for 29 years and this is my first time going.

Review №8

I went here for brunch with a friend and everything was excellent, from the food, the portions, to the service! Definitely want to bring my friends here the next time they're in town!

Review №9

I call this unique place often because I enjoy the good air that is outline this place. The staff is exceptionally loving and qualified. The service is very efficient. Not to mention, the food they prepare is highly distinguished. I frequent many times and I was always joyful. The pay is honest. I highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

Review №10

Escargot was good. Service was good. Although,my mussels were bland (I even added my own butter, salt, and pepper in their white sauce for flavor but it only help a little bit). My other recommendation is for servers to smile a little bit. :-) They don't seem happy to be there. I've also been there a dozen times and always get treated like a new customer. A nice touch is to remember your frequent customers, especially for such a small place. But overall a great experience... they know when to hold an entree until you've completed the appetizer. They return frequently to pour a purchased bottle of wine at the table. It is a quaint French restaurant with many nice features.

Review №11

I tried this spot already with a friend and I am obsessed since then. I like the good ambience and flavorful dishes and drinks. Keep it up.

Review №12

I will give it two stars because I was not able to try their food. I was walking by was told they were closed went home to look up their hours and found google said 10PM close it was barely 910. After speaking with someone I was told I was lying and attacking them for stating google times and then hung up on. While I havn't tried their food I can inver from how they treat potential customers that they don't care.

Review №13

This place was great. Went here for restaurant week and the menu was awesome. I started with a cheese plate which had four cheeses and the champagne apples on this plate I could eat all day. The pickled melon went great with the goat cheese. Also, the onion soup is delicious.

Review №14

We love the annual Peach Dinner! And we love this restaurant. Chef Jacques has fenominal inspirational gems on the menu daily, if you haven't been here I highly recommend it.

Review №15

This place is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. everytime I I need a delicious meal, this place comes straight to my head. good and food and a rich menu.trained team, and great mood. Also, the pay is good. I sent my friends to this spot with pleasure.

Review №16

My wife and I visited here for our anniversary dinner. We chose this place because of their menu choices. So many places these days try to get so fancy, you cannot pronounce the name of the dishes. La Dote has fancy and familiar dishes. Moreover, they offer two tasting menus, on for $38 and one for $48. The server was very helpful in that my wife wanted the onion soup from the $48 menu and her entree, Coq au vin, from the $38 menu. The server recommended she do a la carte because it was cheaper. Her meal was good.I had the beet salad, which was excellent. I also had the Beef Burgundy which was also very good. One other important note, the establishment may not seem inviting from the view of Lee Hwy, but when you get inside, the ambiance is very nice. Moreover, we were seated on the side next to some windows and it hardly felt like we were on the border of Arlington and Falls Church.

Review №17

Pretty good food and cozy atmosphere.

Review №18

Love this refreshing old world French Cafe! You can feel comfortable there even with the white tablecloths - casual dress is fine. The waiters were helpful and attentive and the quiche and salad I had were so good and satisfying!

Review №19

We had a great time at this French bistro. Their homemade pate was really good. And the coq au vin was solid. Among the delicious desserts I particularly enjoyed the bread pudding. Bonne mange!

Review №20

Delightful charming little restaurant. The wait staff are attentive without being annoying. The menu had a number of French standards and a few treats as well. There are also great pre-fixe options too. We all had different meals and each of us was pleased. Save room for dessert. All was good except the bread pudding. Sad because it was so pretty.

Review №21

We love La Cote D'Or. Such a great neighborhood spot

Review №22

This was the highlight of DC restaurant week. Authentic French food, reasonably (not cheaply) priced, but worth every dollar. Strongly recommend the floating island (my new favorite dessert and an unexpectedly excellent dessert)

Review №23

This spot never fails to impress. They serve fresh dishes for fair rates, there no long wait even when the place is busy.

Review №24

The meals and service were beyond my expectations. We really loved the ambience of this spot. Great spot to take the family out for dinner.

Review №25

My wife and I have eaten here many times over the years and have usually enjoyed it immensely, but our New Years Eve dinner was a bit disappointing. They offered a 3-course, prix fixe menu with multiple options for each course. The quail and foie gras appetizer I had contained tiny but sharp quail bones and cartilage. Plus it was bland and needed something tangy or vinegary, such as dried fruit or pickled onions, to bring out the flavor. I also had the beef tenderloin Wellington. The beef by itself was good, but the other ingredients inside the dough wrapper wrecked the taste, and disagreed with me so much that I became briefly nauseous. I understand that taste is a personal thing, and perhaps others liked those items better than me, but I am not a finicky eater. It's rare for me to abandon a course because I didn't like the taste. For the record, my wife enjoyed her meal immensely. One point off for the food, and one for the slow service. Restaurant was busy but not slammed, and they were well staffed. So why did it take nearly a half hour to receive and pay the bill? Most of other experiences here have been 4 stars or better so I haven't given up on them by any means, but this experience fell short of expectations.

Review №26

Delightful restaurant. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Their specials are a great value!

Review №27

Quaint French bistro. Yummy food tasty wine.

Review №28

Loved it every time we eat there. Let Paz be your guide through the menu!

Review №29

Our dinner took over 45 minutes to come and we were the second table seated that evening. The bouillabaisse was inedible - a weird texture and terrible aftertaste. We sent it back. Thankfully they comped it for us but we didn't order a replacement given how slow it was. Won't go back.

Review №30

We had a wonderful in this place. We loved the excellent atmosphere and the food. The staff were super personal. I'm happy we finally decided to visit this place.

Review №31

Just had lunch and I liked it very much. I ordered trout which is one of my favorite fish. It was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The staff was attentive and happy to comply with our requests. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. This is not the place to go if you're in a hurry.

Review №32

Excellent all round! Creative chef, trained in France. Adorable staff! Comfortable seating.

Review №33

Delicious food and good service

Review №34

Charming restaurant with an excellent and unique menu and absolutely wonderful staff. Great for date night or a sophisticated night out!

Review №35

Onion soup to die for.

Review №36

Love it. Everything is so well prepared and authentic. Really great place.

Review №37

Everything was lovely here! It is such a quiet, calm, and relaxing setting. The bread was superb, and the fruits were fresh! I ordered the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. This dish is perfect. It was very flavorful! I will order this again for brunch when I come back! I totally recommend this place!

Review №38

A lovely unapologetically French bistro for a leisurely lunch. Their house salad is a work of art and every dish that I've had (many) is exquisitely prepared. The wait staff is charming and you feel well served, not rushed

Review №39

The rainbow trout was delicious and lentil soup as the soup du jour was a great choice.

Review №40

Wonderful birthday lunch with a friend! Great service and excellent food!

Review №41

We often come on our anniversaries. We like the outer room that faces the street but most people like the inside room, maybe because it is more clearly French decor. Oh, yeah, and the food is great. Reasonably priced for a French restaurant

Review №42

The food is absolutely fine, but the service is so bad. The waiter, who with all due respect cannot pronounce the name of the French dishes his restaurant is serving, couldn't fathom an extra espresso shot in our two orders of caffe latte! He kept saying: we cannot do it because it is a machine that makes the latte. I had to explain to him that he can make an extra shot of espresso and “manually” add it to the latte, and charge it to our bill. It still took him a while and a couple of repetitions to get it. He also brought us clearly old berries as “fresh” fruits. When one of us said but they clearly look old, his answer was: we cut them yesterday and kept them in the fridge! Finally, the decor looks so old and outdated. The chairs have sticky spots as if they have never been cleaned.

Review №43

Food was excellent. Smaller tables were a little cramped for space with the dishes. Overall a great value. Will be back to try more options.

Review №44

Nice place for a private dinner. Food was delicious. The service was exceptional. Cocktails were just right.

Review №45

Excellent Food

Review №46

I think coming here for a piece of history is ok. As for the food, given the price point comparison, it is just ok and nothing special here.

Review №47

Very nice French restaurant - food, price, and atmosphere are more than a cafe. Food is traditional French for the most part and is very good. Prices are reasonable for what you get. The atmosphere is that of a family run restaurant in a small French town.

Review №48

The service is constantly rapid, fantastic vibes, super friendly employees. Will return here again when I get nearby.

Review №49

Classy restaurant. We had a tasty dinner and the service was very good.

Review №50

Set menu lunch quite good. Mussels and fries looked best. Lovely ile flottante for dessert. Parking limited. Easy bus connection to East Falls Church Metro.

Review №51

Had a nice family gathering for dad's 89th bday with 27 people. Appetizers were great, onion soup was extremely salty this time, and entree were so so. Jorge and his helpers were very nice, but very slow in getting the food ordered (like an hour later) and on the table (an hour and a half later). When bill calmed, they over charged us over $1900 and fixed it cause they added 5 more appetizers too many of on the check. They charged $59 for cake cutting fee but never told us beforehand. The server even confirmed that he only told me about putting the cakes in the refrigerator. Initially the manager said that since the server never told me about the fee there would be no charge but then changed his mind and argued with me saying that I told them the day before that I had a cake when I made the reservation. (I did not, since I didn't pick up the cakes until prior to dinner). I told him I did not tell him that and only gave him the number of people coming but he insisted I did.He also told me he needed $200 deposit to hold the spot the day before, but when I called bank the next day to confirm, they did not take a deposit.I've always liked going there but the manager, Chris, just caused a bunch of unhappy customers arguing over a $59 charge when the check was almost $2k. How sad...We had a great time with our family Bc they were able to accommodate all of us, and considering that our dad is wheelchair bound and doesn't go out much, this was a treat to have all of us together. We will not be returning!!

Review №52

Everything is perfect. I have some good memories of lunch here with my foodie sister. True french cuisine and the atmosphere is full of romance. You can almost believe you are in a Paris bistro.

Review №53

Well priced with good food. Great specials. You might not expect it from the outside.

Review №54

We had a excellent cassoulet and a bavette steak. Wine prices are reasonable, and the selection and quality are good. There are different fixed price options , which we found to be a good value. The bread pudding for dessert was not too sweet, with a great consistency and a nice cream sauce. Parking is the biggest problem here, but it is walking distance from East Falls Church Metro.

Review №55

Great service, great thanksgiving meal

Review №56

I visit this place several times year and have not bèen disappointed yet. A great neighborhood restaurant worth driving to, even if you live some distance away.

Review №57

This is a very bad restaurant. Poor quality of service, as they claim to be French. I was very disappointed last Monday, 7/1 it was my birthday, horrible. The ribye steak they served to all of us did not have any taste and topped with fatty cheese. and had bad smell. The creme brulee was not really cooked, and the waiter was very rude. We spent $400 for a terrible dinner. I came home and I was sick.

Review №58

Re-discovered this gem, charming setting, everything we ordered was delicious, service professional and the french wine by-the-glass a real treat. Will be back soon.

Review №59

Very gracious staff, made our food per request, everything was delicious! We will definitely be coming back!

Review №60

We went for Valentine's Day and enjoyed the special menu. Atmosphere, service, and food were top notch. We will visit again.

Review №61

Amazingly tasty food with great service.

Review №62

Fantastic meal as always. Every course was perfection. Chef was able to deliver exceptional quailty on one of the busiest nights of the year (New Year's Eve) late into the service. The value was beyond compare for the price. We have been to the restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. We will be back soon.

Review №63

Good food, ok service but we could have done without the music in such a small room.

Review №64

The service is excellent here! Such kind staff.

Review №65

Nice, cozy

Review №66

Good service and great food

Review №67

Very poor customer service and the manager is extremely rude. Quality of food has decreased since opening. Too bad as we were hopeful to find a good tasting quality restaurant in the neighborhood.

Review №68

Great food and service as slways

Review №69

Cozy bistro perfect for business lunches. Nice selection of standard French fare with reasonable prices. Service is attentive but not overbearing.

Review №70

Nice place with an old charming feel. Good is very well prepared and consistent. Reasonable price. Parking in the parking lot of Econo Lodge but not many slots available. A lot of locals come here often.

Review №71

Great, great food. Service is excellent. Portions are very good. The food was hot when it came to the table and that is a plus for me. The bread is wonderful. An extremely enjoyable and delicious meal.

Review №72

We lived in Europe for four years. This is the closest we have found to similar cuisine.

Review №73

Excellent French/Continental cuisine, outstanding wine list w/ reasonably priced wines, and great service.

Review №74

Good reasonably priced French.

Review №75

Good food. Quaint.

Review №76

Nice quaint restaurant everything was good, nothing was great. Quiche a dissapointment.

Review №77

Nice and Achille spot for talking around the table

Review №78

We went for brunch in October and I was shocked first how long it took to prepare when the restaurant was not that full and that my sunny side egg was practically raw when served. A runny egg is ideal, a clear egg is NOT. I told the waiter that the egg was raw when he came to take the plates...he didn't try to make it up and my expensive meal went uneaten. I won't be back. The location is good. The staff was fine. The decor a bit old but not dirty.

Review №79

Cute little place. Great service and delicious food. I had the Lobster Bisque and the Mergues which I highly recommend. They have lunch special so even better! Also, it is super cute inside.

Review №80

Delicious 3 course menu. Lovely atmosphere. Hidden gem!

Review №81

Wonderful service. Food above average. Parking could be better. Will definitely go back

Review №82

Superb! Wide menu selection (includes nightly prix fixe option), excellent and authentically French preparation. Setting is warm, comfortable, and conducive to conversation. Attentive service.

Review №83

Everything about our meals was perfect. Delicious and perfect presentation.

Review №84

Service with Great Food and a moderate wine list( affordable) makes this a regular stop in the Falls Church area.

Review №85

My favorite restaurant! Superb service and the food has never failed. They know my favorites, quiche lorraine, salad and latte.

Review №86

Delicious Coq au Vin. Abled to have a real Kir. Disappointed in the dessert selection. Friendly staff. Would go back.

Review №87

Very good food, authentic French food.

Review №88

The best restaurants.....

Review №89

Review №90

Went for brunch during restaurant week. Food and service were good. Loved the feel of this place.

Review №91

Definitely an adult night out establishment. Food and service fatastic. Prefixe menu was superb!

Review №92

Just a really nice French restaurant. Great food; great staff.

Review №93

Love this restaurant.

Review №94

Neighborhood French restaurant. Good value on traditional French cuisine.

Review №95

If you want a special dinner and don't want to pay four star prices, this is the place to go. They have a special menu every night and specials in terms of wine most nights so this is the place to go

Review №96

Amazing BLT!!!! Fries were not cooked enough but still decent. $$$

Review №97

Very nice. Classic French with a twist

Review №98

Amazing. Hard to imagine a better French restaurant .

Review №99

Delightful restaurant. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Their specials are a great value

Review №100

This is a very authentic french restaurant. The servers and staff have very thick French accents so it makes the experience that much more authentic. Unlike France though, these servers are very nice and helpful.
