My wife and I ordered some Khinkali, she got a plate and so did I while all hers were in tact, four of mine were broken. And if you know khinkali the main purpose of eating them is to drink the juice from the inside, which I could do only with 4 out of 8. The taste of them was good I just wish they would put more attention to detail.

An amazing dining experience. Owner and staff make you feel like family. Exceptional service, and freshly prepared food that you can tell right away the chef takes pride in! Don't miss this one!

Review №3

Delicious! Fresh! Great service! This is one of my favorite local spots.

Review №4

Fabulous, fresh and tasty! Our new favorite restaurant! Great service too!

Review №5

Amazing food A+ great staff must try

Review №6

My first visit to the restaurant Ararat what can I say: The most delicious food very well served, a romantic atmosphere, 5 stars is not enough 10 !!!! thank you very much for a tasty meal !!!

Review №7

The service was a little. The steak and pork kabobs were great. I wished they had more side items with vegetables. It was mostly rice and potato dishes.

Review №8

Simply delicious!! Comforting atmosphere. Great menu choices! Friendly staff! Make sure to try baklava and coffee! Absolutely amazing!!

Review №9

I have only picture of tea because it was so tasty that I forgot to do any photos of food. We ordered borsch, shish kabob and chicken cutlet. Everything was amazing!

Review №10

If you are from СССР you should visit this place to taste of this food!!!

Review №11

10 Stars! I worked with the owner to arrange a surprise party with 30 guests. The process to coordinate the event was perfect, the food was awesome, the service impeccable, and the ambiance was great. I had a guest who is normally very tough on restaurants, but even he was impressed. I only wish I would get a commission on all those who said they would be coming back for date night.

Review №12

Great place with delicious food and amazing service! Will come back soon for sure!

Review №13

Our first time here. Food is delicious, place is very clean and service is one of the best we've encountered. Will definitely come back. I would suggest adding home fries and veggies as side dishes.

Review №14

This was my first time and I was impressed by food quality, service and atmosphere. I am always skeptical of trying Slavic foods, because usually I can cook most of dishes at home :) but I loved this place! Ordered Beef Shawarma and Khalinki and had to take most of it home because serving platea were big :) they have lots of options for Mediterranean dishes and Armenian. They do have some Russian dishes as well, but their primary kitchen is Mediterranean. Our server, Edward was really good and answered all questions that we had in regards to menu options. This was a girls night out and we promised to ourselves to bring hubbies next time :) The interior is very beautiful and it can be a nice venue for romantic date.

Review №15

We have visited Ararat 17 many times. The food is delicious and of excellent quality. The restaurant staff are friendly and you get a lot of food for your money. We have never left this place feeling disappointed!

Review №16

Great clean food! And wonderful service. Will be back

Review №17

Food was very good! Absolutely get the grape leaves!!! Best I've ever had!!! The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars was service was a little slow.

Review №18

Absolutely fantastic. The kababs were out of the world. If you like Mediterranean/Middle eastern food, don't miss out.

Review №19

The menu was ok. I had the vegetarian platter that had hummus, falafel, grape leaves and tabuli. There are very similar restaurants in the area that I think have better food.

Review №20

Absolutely amazing. Only thing I did not like was the rice ball app. Everything else was five star.

Review №21

The management doesn't bother to update the business hours information on Google.

Review №22

Phenomenal food. Authentic Russian and Armenian cuisine

Review №23

The smells from the kitchen lured us in. We had lunch with kabob chicken, beef and lamb. It was all wonderful. Plesant service. Nice atmosphere. A nice departure from the traditional suburban fair of the area.

Review №24

Solid 4. Authentic Armenian. The location is in a small strip mall beside a Harris Teeter, so it's a bit out of place. If you havent tried I highly recommend you do. Only reason for not providing 5 stars was the lack of sides. You can only have so much salad and hummus. Enjoyed the lamb chops and chicken permeni. Grape leaves were very good too.

Review №25

Good food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Had the Khinkali, and my wife had the Lula Kabob. Both delicious! Will come again!

Review №26

Real good food and service. Good for a family too. Love the 100 sanitation score - don't think I ever seen one quite so high.

Review №27

Very close to Mediterranean food, but Armenians have their own touch. The meat was perfectly cooked, they offer plenty of sides, hummus and salads are a must and have some if that purple pickles. They are great.

Review №28

Nice atmosphere, excellent food. Only problem is I waited to long to go there. Could not have picked a better Valentine dinner. Even the tea is awsome. Kabobs, mashed potatoes something for everyone.

Review №29

I've been here a couple of times and the food is always amazing! I went today for my mother's birthday with my family, and everyone loved their food! We had the combo appetizer and the blinchik and it was so tasty. This was the first time my family was here and they enjoyed it as well. The staff and owner are also extremely friendly, and the atmosphere is very inviting. They give you a lot of food for the price, and you can tell everything is prepared fresh. We will definitely be back!

Review №30

I love this place! Every dish is delicious and the atmosphere and service is very nice. Elegant, but very family type. Even my kids love the food!

Review №31

Great place for authentic Armainan food! The service was quick and the food was even better! If you haven't ate here yet, do yourself a favor and drop in for dinner one evening!

Review №32

First time eating here. The good: Chicken dumplings, pomegranate wine, hummus and mashed potatoes. Enjoyed those. The bad: Beef saute entree is like steak fajita meat but "very" overcooked, dry and tough like jerky. Had the meat been moist and not overcooked, it would have been good. The ugly: Cabbage salad - it sounded and looked so good, but we couldn't even eat it as it smelled so bad, like sour milk, and it tasted the same way (we had a little sample just to be sure). Not sure if that's the norm but it was horrible. We told the server and she took it back but didn't offer a replacement side which we thought was odd, though we should have asked, especially since this is a higher priced restaurant. If we return it would be to have the chicken dumplings and to try a different entree, other than beef.. The chicken dumplings kept the rating up to 3, as they alone are a 5.

Review №33

Oddly located in a store front. But once inside, you forget that you're next door to the grocery. Everything was perfect, beginning to end. Food was delicious. My husband loved the stuffed grape leaves- a little different than the usual ones( had a tomato based sauce flavor). Great little gem.

Review №34

Excellent Armenian and Eastern European food. The borsch tastes just like my Ukrainian grandma used to make. They make the best kebab I ever tasted in the US. I do not know about their "Mediterranean" dishes, because I went there for the authentic Eastern European food experience and the food exceeded all my expectations.

Review №35

Good service, friendly staff, excellent food

Review №36

Loved it from the warm greeting very pleasant server ,elegant decor and most of all the food was fresh and delicious! I am looking forward to my next visit!

Review №40

Great spot for authentic Armenian food! Very nice and attentive staff :)

Review №41

Great food. Very clean. Awesome service

Review №42

This was an alright place. Was a little difficult to get here. The falafel we had to send back but otherwise overall it was an okay place. The best was their cabbage salad.

Review №43

Nice find since this is the only Armenian restaurant around Charlotte. I'm originally from Massachusetts where there's a large Armenian population and you can find Armenian food easily. It's nice being able to have some of my favorite dishes being here in NC. They have hummus, tabbouli, stuffed grape leaves, kebab, and shawarma to name a few dishes. I'm not much of a wine guy but they do have a pomegranate wine that I enjoy whenever I visit.

Review №44

I liked it, probably not my favorite shawarma every but still good.

Review №45

I'm never one to leave reviews but this place surely deserves it. The food was out of this world, the service was fantastic, and the design of the place is super cool. They put a lot of work into this and I pray it pays off. The gyro sandwich is one of the best I've ever had and the kabobs are perfect......probably gonna eat there again today since I'm talking about it. Definitely give this place a try, you'll love it.

Review №46

Great food and service. Nothing else like that in Charlotte metro. We drive 30 minutes to get there and keep coming back for more.

Review №47

Great food. Need to try pomegranate wine!

Review №48

This restaurant was so sweet. It was clean, the decor was so classy, and the service was great. I ordered the falafel platter and it was so delicious and filling.

Review №49

Food was outstanding and the presentation was lovely and very well put together. Pomergranate wine was amazing and my main course was cooked to perfection. I dined outside early afternoon because I had my dog with me; there are comfortable tables outside and we were lucky the weather was clear and moderate. The only feed back I would offer is that an outdoor heater might be a good investment for dog owners or smokers who sit outside. Other than that this is definitely a restaurant I would visit again. Overall outstanding.

Review №50

Great food and service. A hidden little gem.

Review №51

Nice atmosphere, good service and selection

Review №52

Very good food ! Super clean ! And nice atmosphere and gentle people !

Review №53

You get a huge bowl of "coleslaw," unfortunately the canned corn and not too great of a dressing ruin it.Pork and lamb kebabs were pretty good, not as good as homemade usually are, but good enough. Chicken kebabs were bland and dry(. The seafood kebab sampler was terrible. Shrimp were unsalted, bland bricks that reeked of chlorine as the cheaper ones usually do. Sturgeon and salmon weren't really edible either.Potato fries (more like country potatoes) where very good, though I'm pretty sure they come frozen in a bag. The garden salad was good, extremely fresh, room temp, and had tasty half-salted cucumbers.Napoleon cake was better than expected and pretty edible. Two people at our table had "carbonated mineral water" which smelled and tasted terribly of chlorine. As if it was just tap water carbonated. This was VERY surprising :-/.Overall, it is ok for the price, but as the only "Russian" restaurant in town, I wish they would provide better food even if it meant raising the price. Oh, and the decor was a bit dressier than at American restaurants at a similar price range, which was nice.Four stars as an advance, but hope they actually tweak some things to deserve it.

Review №54

This has become my favorite ethnic restaurant! The ambience is great especially with the music. Wait on! Very efficient and hospitable. The dishes are balanced in flavor and plated to perfection. Love the table settings!I have been back a dozen times and introduced others to it.Sylvia AntonThe Holistic GardenCertified Personal Chef

Great place very clean, I highly recommend this place. The food is fantastic, everything is so fresh with a great taste their bread is amazing so crunchy and tasty. The service is fabulous our waitress was on point. Also I would recommend trying their wine samples, me and my gf had the Revah Pomegranate and it was delicious. We are definitely coming back to Ararat17.

Review №56

Great food! Armenian is similar to many other international cuisines in area but have a unique blend of spices and dishes. It's a great must try. Recommend meat dumplings and Ararat chicken!

Review №57

Very nice restaurant, upscale and a little bit pricey. There are so many good Middle Eastern restaurants in town now so the price would be the only thing keeping me from going back here. Food was excellent and the service was good.

Review №58

We had a great experience here! Food was delicious with extremely big portions. The service was excellent and the decor is beautiful. We will be back!

Review №59

This place was amazing!! Looking forward to visiting again.

Review №60

First time dining here tonight. The food is really top notch, and the prices are fair for the quality of the food. There were some difficulties with communication, but those will pass with time and patience. Yes, we're going back. Often.

Review №61

Very tasty food and excellent service. I had the pork shish kebab and it was very delicious. Very relaxing atmosphere and a nice design inside. Absolulely going back there again.

Awesome food and service!

Review №72

The food was beautiful, seasoned perfectly. They have a garlic aoli that you will want to IV. Our waiter was excellent. There are very few restaurants that pay this much attention to serving a perfect plate of food.

Review №73

Review №82

Lovely waitress, great food!

Review №83

Very nice place, delicious food.

Review №84

My girlfriend and I tried this place out on a whim for lunch. We were a little nervous walking in as there was only one occupied table in the restaurant, but we were overall pleasantly surprised and impressed. I'm Egyptian, so I was excited to try the Armenian version of dishes I know well and have tried multiple iterations of.The server brought herbs (salted thyme, oregano, and mint, if I had to guess) to the table along with two types of bread (pita and a fluffier bread). I love when restaurants present zayt and za3tar, and they had olive oil at the table so you could dip as much bread as you pleased. The bread was amazing and served hot each time. We ordered the dolma and the combo of 2 kebabs (lamb and pork) with sides of hummus, mashed potato, and house salad. The dolma was not bad but not necessarily something I'd order again; I'm fairly biased toward eating ma7shy (as we call it) warm. The house salad was simple, fresh, and well-seasoned. The kabobs were delicious, cooked perfectly, and also well-seasoned. The lamb and pork weren't differentiated clearly on the plate, which we didn't love, but otherwise the entree tasted delicious. The hummus was delicious, but the mashed potatoes were unremarkable. We sampled the Armenian pomegranate wine and pomegranate and cherry wine. The pomegranate wine smelled and tasted lovely. It was the perfect hint of sweet without feeling like we were drinking juice.Overall, the decor is excellent. The restaurant is tasteful and clean. The service was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Review №85

If you want the most authentic Russian food, this is the place to go. Reminds our family of how we ate back in Kurganinsk!

Review №86

Great place, well taken care of. Amazing quality food and atmosphere.

Review №87

This place is brand new and had only been open less than a month (it's now 7/15/17) so anytime a new place opens, ESPECIALLY by ones who have not had restaurant experience previously, opinions should come with a grain of salt. That said, the food, the most important part of a restaurant, was fabulous...just great. The service, however was terrible and when I asked the owner about this and he apologized and mentioned that most of his staff is family, for now, trying to pitch in and help till this restaurant gets really going. The result is, if you have little to no patience, don't go here until, say, a year from now. If you DO have the patience, the reward is, great food by great people who have a clear cut goal to be considered one of the BEST Mediterranean restaurants in Charlotte. Also, (again, with patience) this place is beautiful with a fresh new coat of paint and its design is totally "date night" worthy. The space can be a little tight but there is a decent sized bar to eat and order at and, because the owner is Armenian, he carries quite a few spirits that are uniquely Armenian. I will be back, I really like it.

Review №88

So delicious food and excellent service! Strongly recommend!

Review №89

Tasty and delicious food, great service.

Review №90

Spectacular place!!!Awesome service Irina!!!!

Review №91

Great restaurant and great service. Ambience was an extra gift, and the Armenian wine made it extra special.

Review №92

This has quickly become one of my new favorite restaurants in Charlotte! The Lula kabobs and pelmeni are delicious and probably my favorite items. The servers are attentive and eager to help you if you're unfamiliar with their menu...and since most people are likely unfamiliar with Armenian food, that is helpful. I would best describe it as a mixture of Russian and Middle-Eastern/Arabic. You will find borscht, but also shawarma, and delicious hummus. Their selection of Georgian (the country) style wines is great: some sweet, some dry. This area of the world has long been known to have some of the most fertile soil and best foods, so if you have to opportunity to visit Ararat, I would suggest it. It's even better if you bring some friends and have everyone order something different and be able to taste and share the variety.

Review №93

Good food, clean place

Review №94

Hummus and Falafel to gyros and kabobs.

Review №95

What a great restaurant with authentic Armenian cuisine. If you come here you have to try the lamb kebab! It was superb. The appetizers were great too - cheese/meat pie, blinchik, tabulli to name a few. With the entrees definitely order rice balls, they were exquisitely prepared. Also try the Armenian grape leaves entrée. The service was good, there were a lot of us and we were happy they were able to accommodate us. This is not your typical restaurant where everything is prepared from frozen produce. Here you get a home cooked meal made in the kitchen. We were able to order ahead of time, but even if you have to wait a little it's totally worth it. Thank you so much! I'll be back.

Review №96

Best restaurant in town. Great food. Must try

Review №97

My family and I visited the restaurant, they had the great service, food was excellent and recommend this restaurant to everyone. Will be back again soon.
