Stopped in for brunch and enjoyed it! It's truly got an authentic Italian flair. The food and flavors were great. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits. It's quaint to seating and proximity to other patrons can be a bit of a challenge, but they have a good system in place. The fresh baked bread on display was a sight, and the staff was friendly and attentive to tables. All in all, a solid brunch option in WeMo. I've gotta' get back to give their dinner seating a whirl.

Review №2

The food was surprisingly good. It is tiny and evidently reservations are recommended. If the patio dinning area was cleaned up and didn't have to remind them a half hour after being seated that we were there (service excellent after that) they probably would get 5/5 stars!

Review №3

Excellent food. The portion sizes were excellent as well. Highly recommend!

Review №4

Tonight was my first time ordering here and it was seriously the best meal I've had in a long time! I ordered the fillet which was cooked perfectly with plenty of onions and mushrooms. We finished off with the NY cheesecake and I definitely recommend this if you're a cheesecake lover! I will definitely be visiting here again in the future.

Review №5

Very good meal tonight.I haven't been in years but remember it being delicious. Tonight's meal I would definitely order again. I had the Eggplant Emilia.

Review №6

I had the Pasta Trifecta and my brother chose the Veal Picatta. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and we knew we had to have dessert. The Chocolate Bottom Creme Brûlée was in the top five best desserts I have ever had and the tiramisu was not far behind it.

Review №7

You know the food is good when you walk in the restaurant and get hit with a wall of amazing food smells from the open kitchen. Delicious is all I can say

Review №8

Not impressed. Three meals (veal, fish, and shrimp w scallops) all tasted the same. Heavy on oils. Waitress nice enough but lacking in skill. Expensive for both portion and quality. General cleanliness lacking. Will not go again.

Review №9

WOW!! Finally found a good, authentic Italian restaurant in the Mobile area. Everything we ordered: gnocchi, bolognese lasagne, veal piccata; and for desserts, tiramisu and white chocolate bread pudding, all were simply delicious, very tasty, and fresh! It's very rare that I give 5-stars, but Via Emilia deserves it! My only gripe was our server; she was not attentive at first, but she had gotten better towards the end. Overall, my gripe was overruled by the yumminess of the food... tutto era delizioso!

Review №10

Oooooooooooo this is the best pasta and meatballs ive ever had from a restaurant. Ever. We ordered takeout as our first time trying this place out and its exceeded all of my expectations as far as food quality and takeout experiences go. Will definitely be back to have an in the restaurant experience!

Review №11

It was an okay experience. The dining room is very crowded, there are no menus, and parking is nightmarish. Pricing is fair and the food is outrageously good. If you're a vegetarian or have any other eating restrictions, I suggest calling ahead to get the menu. They will not make anything that isn't on the menu board (I asked if I could order a plate of pasta, which comes with nearly every entrée, it was a no-go). If there's nothing for you to eat that night, your options are salad and a diet appropriate appetizer. It was still delicious, but odd.

Review №12

Had the debris fries today at brunch. Top 5 menu item in town. Always friendly service. Everything made from scratch. Truly the best food in Mobile.

Review №13

Love this place! Everything about it is good. In these days, I appreciate that they do take out and it was delicious today.

Review №14

Excellent menu and service. Very small and intimate atmosphere. The meatballs and fried green tomatoes were great starters. There is an outdoor area that has a small fire pit with tables around it.

Review №15

The brunch was absolutely tasteful with mimosas and Bellinis at a low price. The problem is I arrived at 1230 pm ordered by 1240 but didn't receive my food until 155 pm. The place may have seating for about 50 people maximum. The server actually wasn't bad either. But that time would upset anyone.

Review №16

It's a very comfortable, unassuming environment. No pretension. Their wine selection is thorough with their menu, and help provided in a pinch for those of us that might be overwhelmed with a "game time" decision on a proper wine. It becomes a "non issue". I drank a Red Stripe with my incredible filet Mignon.

Review №17

Good atmosphere, good food, good service. Place is very small, be prepared with a reservation. Will be visiting again to see if I can get this to 5star

Review №18

We love everything here! The atmosphere, the friendly servers and staff, and of course... the food is delicious! Portions are big so we always have enough for a take home box. Its intimate, yet perfect for family celebrations.

Review №19

Pretty good food but very loud restaurant. Locally owned, which is very nice.

Review №20

I'm sorry to say it's been too long since I visited Via Emilia's. Today's Sunday Brunch reminded me why I need to come back sooner rather than later. The cozy atmosphere and the nice big single-pane window view of the Koi pond started the morning right. Had a Bloody Mary...on point. Some fresh oven bread dipped in herb-infused olive oil made it better.

Review №21

Want some authentic Italian food? Look no further than Via Emilia. The food is divine. It's a higher end restaurant with great ambiance, priced a little on the high side, but worth it. It does get crowded and waits can be long. I highly recommend making a reservation.

Review №22

Delicious, creative dishes! Free appetizer served: hot crispy fried green tomato served on bed of lettuce with roasted red peppers and sauce drizzled on it. Lunch was eggplant and shrimp in sauce with pasta and cheese. Dishes were hot and delicious! Service was great!

Review №23

Small restaurant but great food, excellent service and nice wine menu.

Review №24

WOW!!! The food was fantastic, service outstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed dinner. More than thoroughly enjoyed, the entire evening was incredible!!! You will love going here.

Review №25

Amazing food and a nice atmosphere

Review №26

Try the fried green tomatoes! Everything here is always delicious and the service is great!

Review №27

Quaint, adorable place! Great for date night or brunch. Make reservations!

Review №28

A very small restaurant but some of the best Italian food I've ever had.We don't live in Mobile but a friend suggested we try it having been there before. I'm amazed they're able to do anything in such a small building but they're able to produce exceptionally good food. They have a rotating menu so you never know what is available. This night I had the best chicken marsala I've ever had. Fine mashed potatoes, wonderfully tender chicken and a marsala sauce that didn't taste like someone had dumped a bottle of wine on my plate. No one was disappointed with their food and I can't wait to make it back to try something else. I could go to Via Emilia once a week, which is probably best that I can't since they are a bit pricey. But the food is certainly well worth it.

Review №29

Delicious! I dine here regularly and the food is always outstanding! It's a small place, maybe 12 tables, and the owner does all of the cooking so the food quality is consistent. You can tell Mr Ellis takes pride in his work. The atmosphere is intimate, perfect for a date night. They're open for lunch Wed., Thurs., Fri. & Sun. If possible make reservations for evening visits. Can't go wrong with Via Emilia!

Review №30

This restaurant always makes me feel confused. Why?Pros: the food is unbeatable for authentic northern Italian! The staff is always kind and offer great service. The atmosphere is always quiet and enjoyable. The prices are shockingly affordable.Cons: the restaurant is incredibly small and borders on claustrophobic. The parking lot is crazy small and is a nightmare for both low-riding cars and bigger trucks. Since everything is made-to-order, prepare for an easy 30 minute wait time for entrees (especially if a large 10+ top table is there, which is often). You are going to drive past this place on your first time visiting, it's hard to spot. Can you see where I'm coming from now? Food, staff, and service is unbeatable. However, a nightmare to get into and takes a long time for food.I will have to still conclude that, if you want the best authentic Northern Italian meal Mobile county has to offer, this is your place to eat. Hands down.

Review №31

Unfortunately, this was not goodThe bread was burnt on the top. The salad was okay. We ordered the eggplant Emilia. It was also burnt to a crisp. Amazing that it passed both the kitchen staff and the wait staff. It should not have been served. Disappointing. The wine was good.

Review №32

We got lucky and got a table without a reservation. They have a very intimate dining area and I would recommend getting a reservation. The food was delicious and the service was great!

Review №33

Fantastic little Italian restaurant. Best in Mobile. My wife and I have been several times and have never had a bad experience. Can be slow sometimes but just carve out some extra time. It's well worth it.

Review №34

1. Atmosphere quaint but full of life.2. Food was delicious and spot on.3. The service was phenomenal. This place, man oh man welcome to northern Italy. The food was spot on phenomenal if your craving authentic Italian, look no further. I have been impressed every time with the food and my taste buds thank you. I say when you walk in it's welcome to the family! I would definitely recommend this place and absolutely make another reservation.

Review №35

Wonderful atmosphere, perfect little mom and pop shop. Been here forever. Lunch, dinner, they got you. Highly recommend!

Review №36

We pulled into Via Emilia not knowing if they were open or closed (never been). We received a warm welcome and a very thorough description of the menu from our waiter. The restaurant is cozy with little seating options, but the Chef is amazing! After preparing our meals he delivered them personally to tell us what they were and how he prepared them. The entrees were delicious along with the desserts. This is by far one of our favorite Italian joints!

Review №37

I have only had Sunday brunch here, but the food was phenomenal. The menu changes throughout the year meaning you can almost always expect something new. Great food, great environment, and great staff!

Review №38

We had a group of 11 for Mother's day brunch. Service was not immediate but the place was packed and the servers were all moving and extremely personable. I had the lasagna, a lady at a neighboring table remarked to one of our party that she thought it was spicier than usual, since it was my first time I had nothing to compare it to but I thought it one of the best sauces I have ever had. The lasagna wasn't really very cheesey but more meat and sauce, I loved it, but if you like alot of cheese you might be disappointed. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals as what plates weren't empty went home with their eaters. I can't believe we've never been before but will be back soon!

Review №39

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY!The person who seats you plays favorites even when you have a reservation. We walked out.ONE STAR IS ONE STAR TOO MANY

Review №40

Wonderful, slightly hidden gem in Mobile. Authentic Italian food and fresh handmade bread. You will not regret trying this place!

Review №41

I liked it. Good lasagna and bread. Very fresh, great meatballs. Not a big sea food person, but there's some good noodles and spaghetti. Pricey but worth it.

Review №42

Staff and food was great

Review №43

It was delicious! We met my mom here for lunch and we all loved it!

Review №44

Best option for Italian food in this city. Great menu which rotates a good bit based on what ingredients that have. Everything is fresh and tastes great. Nice and cozy, a great place for a date.

Review №45

Good fresh fish, filets, rib eyes. And much more in a quaint setting. More of a date or girls/guys night out place than a family restaurant. Sunday brunch has a wide variety of yummy treats and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

Review №46

Amazing. Makes you want to kiss the cook!

Review №47

Local favorite. Chef owned. A lot of pride in every bite. I just love it

Review №48

Best Italian in Mobile

Review №49

Quaint and laid back place with food that is second to none. The eggplant was the best I've ever had...topped with shrimp and perfectly portioned. Even the bread was exceptional. $100 for 2 people including cocktails. I'm a fan. If you don't try it, you are missing out.

Review №50

Lovely place and excellent food

Review №51

Food was fantastic and service was great. It took a while to get our dinner but we had a bigger group. Prices are a bit high but the quality was good.

Review №52

Delicious food. Excellent service

Review №53

Excellent and authentic Italian food

Review №54

Small place, so get there early. Food is excellent. They usually run out of some of the favorites early. One of my favorites.

Review №55

Very good food. I would recommend above any other Italian restaurant in the Mobile area

Review №56

Amazing Lasagna!

Review №57

This place has the best fried green tomatoes in south Alabama. I would love to give the joint 5 stars, but the veal piccata was good but not great. With that said, it is a good place to go when in Mobile.

Review №58

Absolutely eat here. Small and intimate, and the food was stellar. Skilled and knowledgeable, friendly staff. What are you waiting for?

Review №59

This was a quaint lunch spot that we found off the beaten path on our way home from Florida. The waiter, Brent, was fabulous as was the other staff. The Beef Tenderloin not fresh. It was probably the most expensive dish so I was disappointed with the meal. The bread was great, as was the caprese salad and muffoleta. I think I would give them another shot - - I feel like I hit an off day - like everyone has, since the reviews are mostly great.

Review №60

Best pasta I've ever had in my life!! Everyone should know about this hidden gem!!

Review №61

Excellent food. Place is real small and wait times are long. Worth the wait.

Review №62

The dining area of this restaurant is really pretty and looks . The chalkboard menu that changes weekly is a really neat concept. It smelled wonderful in there and the food looked fantastic. The kitchen area seemed dirty though. One example was food was being thawed in buckets of water sitting directly on the floor. The kitchen just looked grimy to me, make your own decision on that, though.

Review №63

Great food and service .... This is a great date place. Its best to get a bottle of wine and relax.. Everything is made fresh; when ordered. So if you are looking for fast food may not be the place for you. Have a seat read the original chalkboard menu and enjoy your company! A+++++

Review №64

We love this Italian restaurant. The menu is varied and it is always delicious! One of my favorites in Mobile.

Review №65

Best eggplant pasta I've ever had! The service was also the best! The environment is very cozy and romantic as well. This is a great place to take your wife or date.

Review №66

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Mobile! The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere is very neat. Defiantly a hidden gem!! My favorite dish is the Eggplant Emilia no doubt!

Review №67

Great place. We enjoyed it. This was our first time. The wait staff was great . Cook was great. We will be back again.

Review №68

Great food and atmosphere.

Review №69

One of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten I had flounder and shrimp. I'll be back.

Review №70

Wonderful food! Loved the quaint ambiance of this small restaurant! Worth the wait!

Review №71

It was alright. Food is way too pricey. The service was okay. We were asked that we leave by a certain hour for another group coming in... Kinda unprofessional since for a single person to eat its a $30 average.I ordered an $8 salad, expected to get a decent size salad (like at least a half size that you would get at a deli) and the salad was literally the size of a coffee saucer plate. Won't be back.

Review №72

This is a special restaurant, with Great Northern Italian food! My wife and I love it! Always a good "go to" for a great meal! One of Mobile's great treasures!

Review №73

Nice menu and decor but food prep took too long. Nearly an hour before food arrived. Food quality itself good...just not worth the wait.

Review №74

Fantastic food and servers. Will no doubt go back again

Review №75

Always excellent. One of the best in town!

Review №76

Love this place! Ten of us tonight and the service was great!! Food is so fresh, the waitress cut the basil out of the garden as we ate! Make a reservation!

Review №77

Excellent food! I ordered the Pollo al Limone. I substituted the Chicken for Veal. Perfectly prepared. My wife ordered the Chicken parmigiana and it too was perfectly prepared. I will spend the money again gladly.

Review №78

Via Emilia is an all-time favorite. While it is pricier, you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The entree portions are big and the food is just amazing. I've tried a few things here and there on the menu and love everything I've tried. Even came here for a family celebration and we all tried a bite from each others' dishes and it was nothing but compliments all around. The wait staff is surprisingly laid back and has always been friendly and accommodating. You're going to want your glass of wine, because the small-space, candle-lit atmosphere makes you feel like you've found the perfect exclusive dinner for your evening, whether you're with a date or friends and family. Seriously give this tucked away place a try, you will not regret it and you will find yourself coming back again.

Review №79

It was ok. Service was good. Food wasn't memorable. The inside looked like it needs a good cleaning.

Review №80

Excellent food and service!!!

Review №81

This place is so good for brunch, lunch and diner! Be sure to get the fried green tomatoes as a appetizer. This place has the best filet in Mobile if you want a steak come here!

Review №82

The food is fantastic!

Review №83

Amazing authentic Italian for a quiet lunch. I felt like I wasn't even in Mobile!

Review №84

Authentic, delicious, great service.

Review №85

Great food and service

Review №86

Loved it . Foods were outstanding!! One of the best places in Mobile!!

Review №87

I have been to this restaurant several times and it is always good. Look for the chalkboard to see the day's specials. This is good place to go when you are tired of the larger restaurants.

Review №88

The food was average at best, and the wait staff deplorable. I wish I had done more to research the reviews. It seems most of the positive ones were from years ago. Too bad, I really had higher expectations. Its obvious Via Emilia is just phoning it in.

Review №89

Good food and nice atmosphere. Definitely make reservations though or you may not get in. Keep in mind it's not cheap....

Review №90

Outstanding food, very polite staff and love the old world atmosphere. NOT your every day food chain resturant.

Review №91

The food is always great! They have the best tasting lasagna I've ever had in my life!

Review №92

Food was very good with an eclectic menu selection. Atmosphere was quaint.

Review №93

Authentic Italian food .

Review №94

Chicken Parm is incredible! Plus Dr. Ls white whine is some good Shiiii

Review №95

Best Italian food I've ever had. Great service!! A++++

Review №96

We went to Via Emilia because I couldn't find very many Italian restaurants in west mobile and have had some good experience with hole in the wall restaurants. Well lets just say I will rethink ever trying another hole in the wall restaurant after my experience here. We didn't know that the restaurant is mainly by reservations only so we just went there and the waitress/hostess said that we could eat there as long as we were out within an hour and a half so we said yes we had plans anyways so that would be fine. The place is tiny so we thought that must be why. We sit down and the waitress says the menu is on the board (chalkboard) in the front of the restaurant so we look and notice that there are 8 items on the board, only 8 none of which is anything either of us want so we ask for fettuccine which is so easy I make it at home all the time (and I am not a very good cook) so we thought that it would be easy for them. Well needless to say I make better fettuccine then they do it was gross and I only ate about a quarter of it because I was so disgusted. My husband had to use the restroom and came back about to get sick because he said that the bathroom was so unsanitary and disgusting. We almost left then but we decided to stay and see how it was. Well it only got worse there were flies flying around us the entire time and my husbands drink was refilled with a can of soda and the can was left on our table. Well after eating what we ate both of our plates were barely touched we ended up paying $55 for our food for two plates not worth $10. Don't waste your time here. It is horrible and the service is horrible. They barely ever checked on us and would just call that our food was coming or asking how everything was as they would pass checking on other tables.

Review №97

Best Italian Restaurant I've been to in a long time.

Review №98

Awful! Had always wanted to try this place and then heard great things about it, so decided to give it a shot. Neglected to take a pic but the calamari tasted bad and seemed to have come straight out of the freezer. The bodies tasted fishy and the rings were rubbery. Unfolded my silverware from its cloth napkin and the napkin was filthy; did not even appear it had been washed from the previous user so I requested some paper napkins. Witnessed the cook use his bare hands when plating the calamari. The Caesar salad came out with I guess Sun dried tomatoes on it which caused an orange oily residue on the salad. Needless to say we cut our losses and went else where for our entrees. What a disappointment.

Review №99

Have to say. The flavors were there from the kitchen but front of the house...hmm not so much.

Review №100

I love it and the food is so great. However, I found the food kind of pricey.
