India Oven

I ordered the Beef Meatball Curry & Chicken Bhuna. The flavor & spicing were great. Probably the best Indian food that I've had in San Antonio. The garlic naan was flavorful, but could have been a little crisper. But that's just my personal preference. If you like Indian food, I highly recommend that you try India Oven.

Arrived for a late lunch at 1:30pm. They are open and it is not a buffet. You order off a menu.I Ordered potato nan, and chicken tikka masala.Indian music in the background at a good volume.Metal utensils, cloth napkins, ceramic plates, and cloth tablecloths.Food took a bit to come out but that is a good sign as it is cooked when ordered and not off a buffet line.My food came out smelling wonderful. My meal was serious delicious! The rice, chicken and the nan were all outstanding!I would definitely recommend them.

Review №3

I've ordered 30min before closing (which I didn't knew while ordering )and the staff didn't call me as soon as they received the order but called 10min before closing informing the same and said it will open again at 5pm. I don't know if I should eat my lunch at 5??? I should have atleast called before or shouldn't have accepted the order or said that they can wait till I reach... they did nothing. They kept my order at a table and redirect me to pickup that without courtesy of wishing me or handing over the package to me. Pathetic experience.I will never visit again. Lesson learnt.Ordered spicy food but got blunt non spicy food with no salt, uncooked breads, uncooked rice.

Review №4

Great food.. buffet open during covid pandemic. Waiters serve you what you want.

Review №5

Called at 7P to order takeout dinner for the family. We ordered the appetizer sampler, the Royal dinner and Baingan Bhartha (an eggplant entree). We were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. I thought that seemed like a reasonable time to ensure everything would be made fresh.... boy was I wrong. Everything on the sampler platter looked and tasted as though it had been cooked hours ago - like leftover lunch items. The eggplant dish, which one would think should be relatively healthy, was swimming in an oily/greasy stew. It was absolutely disgusting. Won't be patronizing this place ever again, my suggestion is you stay away too. Yuck.

Review №6

Exceptional service and the food was wonderful! The environment was very accommodating also with several decorations around the dining room that gave an authentic look. It was second place to actually visiting India in person!!

Review №7

The Food is delicious!!! It takes a little to get it but is worth it. Highly recomend for those Who like to try international foods.

Review №8

You will not be disappointed in the menu and service. nothing but pleasant experiences here. the bill was appropriate for the quality. menu is like a cafe in indianapolis i loved.

Review №9

As always amazing! Best tomato coconut soup ever! And must try their Kashmiri Naan melts in your mouth with cherries and pistachios ...says raisins but doesnt have any...

Review №10

I love this place. Fast and courteous service. The place has an awesome atmosphere. They have so many great reviews for a reason.

Review №11

I want to put 1 star because we went to India Oven in January 2020 and I can't stop thinking about the gulab jamun 8 months later. It was like eating a cloud. I've tried gulab jamun at other restaurants at home in Alberta but it's not the same. Everywhere I try it I get my hopes up and every time they are dashed. I will never find another gulab jamun like at India Oven. I am so salty. I live in Alberta in the covid pandemic, there is no way I can go back to San Antonio to experience this glory again. Damn you, India Oven. How very dare you. Do you deliver to Canada?

Review №12

Talk about waking your taste buds! From the moment you walk in, the aromas envelope you & take you to another land. Basically, its delicious.

Review №13

Ok so not a big india cuisine muncher but this place was good and clean. The food was fresh and delicious.A great value for the buck.

Review №14

This is my favorite restaurant in all of San Antonio, there is a wide selection of food, the decor is beautiful, and the staff are kind. I've been coming here for four years and I can't recommend it enough!

Review №15

I got a buffet to go for only $11.99. I really enjoyed it. Was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of my Indian food.

Review №16

You won't be disappointed in the menu and service. Looking forward to coming back with my friends. The place has a cool atmosphere. Ambience reminds me of San Diego's scene.

Review №17

I would give this place a 10 if I could, my wife and I love the chicken tiki marsala she gets hers medium spicy and I like mine without the spice. I can't even count how many times we have ordered from there, its so wonderful, and made fresh to order, it also lasts for days in the fridge if you bag the rice. I order extra for the weeknights. This is the only Indian restaurant I will eat at. Really love these guys, the service is amazing, and I want to make sure they survive the Covid thing we'd be heartbroken if they closed. You won't be disappointed! Try it

Review №18

Food is okay, Menu is extremely expensive! Nothing worth $16 for lunch buffet on Thanksgiving! Hospitality is very poor. No greetings! No smile!. They should learn customer service and and hospitality. Staff should learn how to smile and treat customers equally. Grow up buddies!!! Good luck for your business!!

Review №19

For lunch or dinner, this place is fantastic! And dining is an experience, with white tablecloths and beautifully neat flatware. Tables are a bit crowded, but it didn't detract from my meal. I've been a customer for 4+ years, and the quality is consistent. I definitely recommend!

Review №20

So delicious, friendly staff, and great prices.

Review №21

Great place to chill, get away, eat some good food. I look forward to going back again. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.

Review №22

No onion no garlic entrees available ordered Malai kofta was decent.

Review №23

The food here is reasonably priced, jam packed with flavor and spicy. Customer service was great

Review №24

Had chicken korma and pakora with chutney. Spice balance was amazing. I overate leftovers, which were just as flavorful as fresh! My stomach was bigger than my eyes.

Review №25

Loved it! affordable & portions are generous! YASSSSS for chicken curry

Review №26

This is my family's favorite restaurant! Every single dish is fabulous and the service is fantastic!

Review №27

Always our go to indian place, always good.

Review №28

MY FAVORITE!! Ever!! The cherry naan bread is to die for honestly

Review №29

We ordered very late. The lamb korma was too salty and the biryani rice was hard. Didn't enjoy it.

Review №30

I couldnt believe 75 percent of tbe food was dried up old. I am definitely not a picky eater and this is my first complaint on any food. The appitizer was Dried up looked super old and tased gross, the grilled chicken and 2 grilled shrips were dry and old. the grill long meat was old as well. we did not eat them. we ony ate the two currys and rice. I am super disappointed

Review №31

I hadn't really had good Indian food before and this restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. It was very good! They had a buffet at the time which is available on select days from what I understand. Worth checking out!

Review №32

The staff are always so friendly and take good care of their customers. I've never had a complaint coming here!

Review №33

Ordered curbside since the dining room is closed because of covid. I pulled up and as I was figuring out how to get my food someone ran out with my food. Everything was piping hot and correct. When I got it home it was delicious. The chicken kofta was shared with my 6 year old and I heard no complaints about the spice level as he has with other dishes in the past. It was so flavorful I didn't miss the heat. I can't wait to order from here again!

Review №34

The servicers in this restaurant are not professional. for instance, they on their phones all the day and do not care about customers. Also, they have solid face and do not smile ever. moreover, their eating plates are not clean as well as their water. Otherwisr, the food is very teaste

Review №35

Update. I can't believe it's been 4 months since I've been here! All the old favorites plus some new offerings. I'm in a food coma! (pic of plate 1 included)Once again, I love the buffet! They may not have a tremendous number of choices (as one reviewer complained), but I couldn't begin to have everything they do offer in one sitting. I have also noticed slight variations in different visits without completely changing out the menu. This is across town for me, so I only eat here every few months. (I wish the same people would have a restaurant in the NE suburbs!)

Review №36

Service, food and ambience are good. Never did we have to flag waiter for anything. Served promptly and hot.

Review №37

Best food I've ate in a long time!

Review №38

This place is always amazing. It doesn't matter if you get the buffet which has a great selection or order off the menu. Chicken Curry is always great and a great selection of Naan. Eat here at least twice a month and it's never let me down. Consistently great.

Review №39

Food was excellent and definitely with fighting the 5 o'clock traffic. This is the best Indian restaurant I've been to in San Antonio. Staff were not overly friendly and didn't seem too interested in explaining the dishes. However, they were attentive and efficient. Just not a welcoming atmosphere. However the food is amazing

Review №40

Service is prompt even when they are busy. The bill was decent.

Review №41

Great authentic Indian food. Good service, new favorite place for us.

Review №42

Average indian food. Servers there are really very casual and do not expect a good service from them. Service is very very slow and you will have to wait a long time to get your food. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Review №43

I can't believe I'll have to write something bad about this restaurant. Long story short this was one of my favorite restaurants since I came here. Everything was going well till one day we had a problem with one of the servers, since then everything change they star treating us like we ask for free food we try to ignored. Every monday we use to go there with my family but yesterday they give us the worst costumer service that you can imagine. I'm really sad, because I had no problem with the food but yesterday we couldn't take it anymore we just got out of the restaurant and decided to not come back anymore

Review №44

Delicious food, lunch buffet. Tomato coconut soup my favorite

Review №45

I had a pleasant experience here. The food was delicious and the staff was nice. If I'm around this part of town again, I would not mind coming back.

Review №46

I love the Vegetarian Dinner. I would recommend it to anyone!

Review №47

It's my new fav spotFood is always awesome

Review №48

Good food, but service was lacking. Most employees are playing on their phones instead of noticing that most of their tables are full of customers complaining to each other about the service. Don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon after that experience. Such a shame considering how good the food is .

Review №49

This place has ALWAYS had the best indian cuisine in San Antonio. They even have a buffet for lunch so you can try several dishes for one great price. I make it a point to go at least once per month. You won't be disappointed!

Review №50

A great place with plenty of options on the full menu, but it's the buffet lunch that's the standout for me. Always plenty of options and a lot of variety day to day. Not the cheapest, but fairly priced since it's all you can eat. Come hungry!

Review №51

Delicious authentic Indian food!! Must try

Review №52

Very popular and good.

Review №53

They have buffet and everything is delicious !! 100% recommended!

Review №54

I loved this place. The food was great. I had the vegetables Samosa, Garlic naan and butter chicken. All of it was delicious, fresh and hot. It's definitely authentic. When you are seated they put this chips and 2 sauces that are good on your table. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because my waiter disappeared a few times and I had to waive it down. Overall I'll definitely go back!

Review №55

Ordered the takeaway meal for two. Everything was fantastic and they brought it right out to the car.

Review №56

Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. if it was closer to my home i would be here often.

Review №57

Have to say by far very good food.was my first time going and always wanted to try so im happy to say my first time was with some very delicious Indian food.

Review №58

Flavorful, spicy & authentic food. Love ordering it online for carryout or delivery. Never missing any items & it's packaged so neatly. Be sure to ask for utensils if you're not home.

Review №59

Spent 4 nights in San Antonio. Best food I've had in a very long time. The service was phenomenal. Every item from the buffet was perfect. 10 stars!

Review №60

Good food, the buffet was lacking a little more diversity. I expected more of a spread for a buffet but what they did have was very good. Everything was tasty and I would probably go back again. However, I have been to better tasting locations. Good option for your Indian food craving.

Review №61

Great food. Friendly service!

Review №62

Best Indian cuisine I have had in San Antonio. Great staff and decent place. We are going back.

Review №63

Amazing! I'm a college student at Trinity University, I moved from Louisiana and I was missing my moms home cooked Indian food and this place DEFINITELY did the job. Flavor is so rich and spicy like authentic Indian food. No artificial flavoring. Love it!

Review №64

You must go there and try the Buffett, $12.99 all you can eat...a little of everything.

Review №65

I first tried this restaurant on Christmas Eve with my family. To say that we all like Indian cuisine is probably the biggest understatement of the year, so I was a bit nervous despite the high ratings. Fortunately, we were in no way disappointed! The food is fantastic and the staff is very attentive, but not intrusive. The chai tea is delicious and the refills are free. The decor is very pleasant and themed well. Even with the restaurant being busy, it wasn't too loud.My husband and I returned to the restaurant on our own and were still so happy with the food and experience! I ordered the vegetarian dinner special, which is $14.99 and was so impressed with the food choices as well as amazed by the amount of food that comes for such an affordable price! I received a samosa as an appetizer, rice, naan, some yogurt sauce, and three different dishes in generous portions as the main course, and a bowl of Indian rice pudding for dessert. The food was extremely hot when we received it as well as my tea (original cup and refills), which is really important to me and the waiter attending to our table was very prompt to clear used dishes and attend to our needs.Obviously, this is a fantastic vegetarian friendly restaurant and is very affordable. Bottom line--I completely recommend this place!

Review №66

One of my favorite restaurants for Indian food. Buffet kept fresh and well stocked with delicious dishes for vegans and carnivores alike. Veggies are not over cooked. Sauces and spices enhance rather than over power. Decor is pretty and sparkly. Courteous service. A menu of specialty items available. An all round pleasant dining experience.

Review №67

The below average and highly over rated Indian restaurant in San Antonio. We went to this place by checking the reviews on google and yelp but the reviews are a sham.We were visiting the nearby water park with our friends and were really hungry after the that.We ordered the following vegetarian options:1. Gobli Manchurian - the worst gobi Manchurian of our life. The dish was deep fried in high flame and tastes ok2. Dal Tadka - An ok yellow daal. We had to put lots of lemon juice to neutralize the taste.3. Paneer Makhani - the better part of the menu which made this restaurant 1 star eligible.4. Breads - the breads were the crispy and well done but the garlic naan has too much garlic. Our friends ordered non vegetarian options:1. Lamb Biryani - As per them, it was not a biryani and it was served as pulao. There was nothing close to biryani to this dish.2. Chicken Korma - This dish was bland.Overall a disastrous experience and people should avoid this place at all cost!!!

Review №68

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in San Antonio. Great food quality and service. We ordered Malai kofta, Paneer Makhani and Baigan Bartha - all were done exceptionally well and were yummy.

Review №69

Great atmosphere great food love this place.

Review №70

4.50 stars, tried the Tandoori mixed grill, and special dinner for two. Both were very good, naan was awesome, service was great as well. Food was so good, we ate it before we could take a picture.

Review №71

Great service.never missed a beat. Great food too. For a buffet, no complaints. Will definitely be back.

Review №72

Wonderful food. I drive from New Braunfels to eat here.

Review №73

Food was so delicious!! And the servings are huge

Review №74

I have seen mixed reviews for this place and finally tried it after living in area 5 years. Food is great, service is great. I think the bad reviews were always about the buffet...some advice: never eat Indian food from a buffet!

Review №75

Really good food! As you come in, you can see there aren't very many options, but that is no problem at all when every one of them is great. The place is nice and comfy. It was pretty expensive though, more so than other Indian buffets in SA.

Review №76

The chicken tikka masala is the best I've ever had.

Review №77

Food is really good. Got the chana masala and glad I live around the corner.

Review №78

Good food, but less variety.Great value for money

Review №79

We discovered this restaurant on a quick Maps search of the area. Wow! We found a treasure. Unusually cool atmosphere, inexpensive and excellent lunch buffet. The food seems to be authentic and not manufactured. We will definitely be back.

Review №80

Im a South Indian (I eat less spice)Food is not spicy .. mild... sweets are not sweet enough .For Americans it's the best place..For me its 3 star.

Review №81

Really good Indian food. Chicken Biryani was spicy even when I asked for mild (I blame that on my own sensitivities), but still delicious. Good portion sizes, I probably have enough food for 2 more meals. Hope to come back for the lunch buffet sometime.

Review №82

Always love this location. One of the best Indian cuisine places in san antonio. Friendly staff in afternoon but lunch staff does seem to be a bit more stressful.

Review №83

Come here every time I'm in town. Always remember us and our order. Love this place.

Review №84

I've been coming here for years. I always think the last visit was better than the one before. It's true. Just like my Sunday buffet lunch. Colorful flavored food displayed at the right temperature. Tender, delicious Tandoori chicken. Succulent goat curry. Love the garlic naan! Dipping in the Madras soup is one of my favorites. Love the sauces and the option of adding spicy chili to my selections. Plus the staff is very attentive for a buffet service. We always tip them as if we had ordered from the menu.

Review №85

Hands down the best Indian restaurant in San Antonio and the only Indian restaurant I eat at in the city as well.

Review №86

One of my favorites in San Antonio. If you're vegan have the Baingan Bhartha and thank me later. Best Indian food I've had since moving from LA.

Review №87

Food is fantastic. Service is good but not server not very going. Tell him what you want and he brings it. That's it.

Review №88

I don't know a lot about Indian food, but the two dinners I've had here have been fantastic. I had chicken in a red curry sauce with crispy style rice, which was excellent. I like the whole vibe here. Their bread, naan, is fantastic too.

Review №89

If you enjoy trying new foods then this is the place to come to. I apologize for not knowing the names of the food but everything we tried was tender and well seasoned. The naan bread was fresh and tasted great. I found myself getting the tandoori chicken bites every time I went for another plate. We will definitely be coming back to this location and I promise I will take pictures of the food (and names) to post before I devour it. Thank you to the owners and staff for making sure our waters were full.

Review №90

I should have took a photo of the food but it was too good to interrupt. The service was very welcoming and sociable. Bring your appetite because portions are large. Wish it was closer to my house, I would come every week.

Review №91

Delicious! I was craving Indian food so much and this place has really good dishes!

Review №92

My first time visit to this restaurant.Food was good, staff was very helpful and dinning area clean and comfortable.Recommended!

Review №93

After years of coming for dinner we finally came by for the lunch buffet. Nice selection on the buffet! The food is great as usual.

Review №94

Absolutely delicious, every time!

Review №95

Everything we ordered was very good. Dinner portions are large and come well arranged. Service was helpful and friendly.

Review №96

It was my first time eating Indian food and I loved it!! Super delicious.

Review №97

The food is good and they have a little of everything

Review №98

Got a medium spicy chicken curry but end of getting 9/10 spicy curry . Taste of curry was not bad beside needing two bottle of water during my 20 min struggle with that spicy food but still 4/5 star for the food . 2 star goes to the server as I got a 2 got order which should have those fork, spoon while giving out the food . I was kinda staying in San Antino for 3 days cuz of work . Here is my story , got samsosa ready and ready to dig in my curry and rice but there is no freaking spoon/knife . Had to got all the down on to breakfast lounge and end of getting some spoon . But seriously what kind of Indian restaurant serves to go curries without a spoon to have those curry . I mean do you all think people will be like oh no spoon ok let's use my hands . Really disappointed at the servers .

Review №99

The spicy scale (mild medium or spicy) actually means something here. Awesome food.

Review №100

The staff here experience abuse: both physical and mental. This is done by the owners and their family.Horrible hygiene, there are roaches running around and I would not doubt the food is dirty too.
