La Margarita Mexican Restaurant & Oyster Bar
120 Produce Row, San Antonio, TX 78207, United States
Review №1

Great food at a good price. We loved that atmosphere of this place. Really fun place for my family. All my kids enjoyed eating here. The mariachi bad was entertaining. I also have to mention the tres leches cake was killer. One of the best I've had. Cool place with a ton of character and culture you won't regret eating here.

Review №2

Good atmosphere. like the text message solution for table ready status. outdoor seating available. did not have many soft drink flavors available. in fact only one flavor was in stock. good food.

Review №3

Food was good but not to where I would say it was different and delicious, a little overpriced for the amount of serving. Our waiter wasn't friendly and very impatient but I don't let that bother me from having a good time. And it did have a nice outside sitting environment.

Review №4

Great plece makes me feel like in Mexico... My family enjoyed

Review №5

This place brings back memories . They have great food and the margaritas are huge! Spent a awesome night with my mom! Shes passed but everytime I see this place I remember that night.

Review №6

Mexican food, mmm, super delicious. Everyone at our table was glad to be there. I will be bringing family next time. It has a cool feel to it. Makes me feel like I am back in Tucson.

Review №7

Enjoyable time so enjoyable that if it wasn't for Las Margaritas I would be high add dry thank you for the top shelf margarita on the rocks rock and roll

Review №8

My preferred spot for tasty Mexican food. Excellent spot to spend time alone or talk business. Service is typically good. The place has a great atmosphere.

Review №9

A favorite spot for delicious mexican food. Looking forward to coming back with my coworkers. This place has a cool design. They have so many good reviews for a reason.

Review №10

Excellent place for Mexican food. food was so delish. had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. the bill was fair for the quality of food.

Review №11

I was so disappointed. I took family from out of town. We ate outside which was nice but the waiter seemed to not know what was going on and disoriented. Plus a professional server knows the menu and how to accommodate vegetarians. I asked if the Enchiladas De Mole could be made with cheese inside. I have done this before many times and they would normally serve them with white corn tortillas and white cheese. This time them gave me the cheese enchilada plate with a spoon of mole on top. Any half wit would understand that if they are asking for cheese, that they are vegetarian. The cheese enchilada sauce comes out with chile con carne. I was going to say something but he never came back. This is so sad for me because I worked there from 1980 to 1985 and was always on top of my game. Not a single table ever left my section disappointed in my service. Even though I am sure George Cortez is not involved anymore, he would be very ashamed to see the restaurant in that position. Even though the managers of past, Dora & Jose, were not the best in employee moral, they would have been eagle eyeing all that was going on. Sad.

Review №12

One of my fav places for quality mexican food. The staff was very sociable and kind. Mood here reminds me of San Diego's scene.

Review №13

My preferred location for tasty mexican food. Cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. The service was sociable and attentive. The place has an awesome feel to it. Feeling here is similar to a place in Columbus I liked.

Review №14

One of my preferred spots for mexican food. super place to meet and chat with coworkers. i had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. the bill was average for the menu. atmosphere is like a restaurant in fort worth i loved.

Review №15

Visiting San Antonio for the weekend and ordered from Tito's because it was close to our hotel. It did NOT disappoint!! The fajitas are simply outstanding! We will definitely order again!

Review №16

My top place for delicious mexican food. certainly worth going back to. they have so many good reviews for a reason.

Review №17

My preferred location for delicious Mexican food. The service was very welcoming and observant. Prices that are reasonable.

Review №18

We stopped in for a few drinks, music and oysters. Located in the market area, it is easy to get to and relaxing for walking around. Tge margaritas were normal. The skinny margarita was outstanding! The oysters as you would guess, were fresh and excellent. A fun place to visit with mice prices, good food and good service.

Review №19

Mexican food and the scene at this place is excellent. i love this place always quality food & service. i can see why they have a lot of great reviews.

Review №20

Mexican food, mmm, super satisfying. cool place to meet and catch up with coworkers. the service was very helpful and welcoming. bring your appetite because portions are large.

Review №21

Service was fantastic! We had a group of nine and none of our drinks were ever less than half full. The chips and salsa just kept coming too. A bowl was never empty. The food was amazing as well. I ordered the Tex-Mex Enchilada Dinner with cheese enchiladas.

Review №22

Love the patio dining! Wasn't too crazy about bandera enchilada dinner. the green enchilada was not good. The red one was great, and the white was mediocre. Beans needed to be cooked more. But the taste was spectacular! Great margaritas.

Review №23

Food is delicious and the staff is really friendly.

Review №24

We had our meal outdoors, which was a very enjoyable venue. Excellent server who brought drink refills as soon as needed. Would return.

Review №25

It's a great restaurant the food is delicious I'm from Houston and me and my lady went to have lunch there

Review №26

Very poor experience. I understand that there is an epidemic going on, but if you are open for business, you better be open for business. We should have been told from the beginning, if the menu was limited, not wait 1.25 hrs, to hear excuses. I'm very very disappointed. I'm a native to the area and brought in family after I bragged on the restaurant. As a small business owner, I would have not charged for such poor service and poor quality food. Probably not coming back.

Review №27

The margaritas were the BEST EVER!!! The food was great but pricey.

Review №28

My preferred location for delicious Mexican food. Don't worry if it's busy, it is worth the wait.

Review №29

My favorite place for mexican food. atmosphere is like a restaurant in fort worth i loved.

Review №30

Excellent spot for quality mexican food. Everyone at our table was glad to be there. The staff was very friendly and kind.

Review №31

This is the first place my husband and I got to experience in San Antonio and it really set the mood for our whole trip. In fact, we actually went here at least every day because we loved it that much. Great food and spectacular atmosphere!

Review №32

Absolutely delicious food, piping hot, and fresh tasting! The staff was wonderfully attentive and friendly and the Mariachi band was a nice touch! The place fills up quickly, so get there early if you don't want to wait!!

Review №33

Mexican food, quality stuff. Great ambiance & decor. It has a good feel to it.

Review №34

Very good food, has a very festive feel to the place. They have Mariachi's walking around to play music, if you pay, and the food price was very reasonable. Great fresh seafood though I will say nothing blew my socks off. Everything was great but didn't cross extraordinary. Great place to bring a family or a large party. If you're on a date or small group I would say look for a mom and pop style place if you want authentic Mexican experience.

Review №35

Good food. Nice staff. Good price.

Review №36

Good food. Good Rita's. Awesome service.

Review №37

This a wonderful place to eat Mexican food in San Antonio. Our family went to celebrate my husband's birthday! The Margarita's are amazing, the Mariachis entertaining, and food is delicious!

Review №38

Food quality has declined and prices have gone up. Margaritas are still great

Review №39

AMAZING food in a very festive atmosphere. The fajitas are better here then down on the restaurant “by the river”. Live bands and numerous shops to spend the day walking around.

Review №40

Great fajitas and in an authentic Mexican atmosphere.

Review №41

Mexican food and service here is super good. Got there near six, it wasn't packed at all.

Review №42

Alright food. Live music outside, which made it a great experience.

Review №43

Waiting time at Mi Tierra was over an hour but we came right around the corner and found this gem. No wait but the food was fantastic and super hot. Great service and prices and where lots of locals eat. Highly recommend.

Review №44

Fantastic food at prices you won't believe!

Review №45

Very nice place. Food was good portions and flavor.

Review №46

A great historic restaurant with great service torist attraction and great feature ambiance inside and out! I live and breath for my San Antonio Historic Market Square and restaurants! ️

Review №47

We were told to try this place out because the wait at Mi Tierra was going to be about an hour. Even though it was packed here, our party of 5 got sat immediately. Our service was pretty good, there were a few slow moments on refills though, and we had to ask another worker to get our check after waiting about 10-15 minutes. The salsa here is really flavorful and not very spicy at all. The queso was pretty good too. My wife ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas (she normally almost always orders just cheese) so she was a bit worried how they would taste. They were actually pretty amazing. We also go the shrimp fajitas for 2. There was more than enough for 3 adults. All the extras were good too.

Review №48

Atmosphere and drinks are excellent. Wish we could say same about food.

Review №49

Great food and friendly service wonderful atmosphere.

Review №50

Nice patio porch... rice was really good but not hot or even close to warm... michelada was ok... service was good... chicken strips kids meal eh...

Review №51

Very nice restaurant downtown, great service and food

Review №52

Overall way better than mi Tierra

Review №53

Good place with good amount of Mexican options and drinks.Their lunch menu is a cheap and fulfilling deal. The same options are available at much higher price in the main menu.

Review №54

This place was very good. The food my wife and I ordered was delicious. Our server was attentive as well.I ordered a strawberry margarita and I thought it was the most tasty drink I ever had.

Review №55

Excellent service and good food. I tried the cheese enchiladas and my sister had the Acapulco enchilada plate. I tried a small piece of Acapulco enchilada, but the seafood tasted undercooked. Mine was delicious as well as the desert we shared, which was a churro sundae, I believe. I had 2 margaritas during their happy hour and they were okay.

Review №56

The food was good. The atmosphere in the restaurant was all so great. If you are around in the market area stop by and have a drink and something of the menu. You wont be disappointed.

Review №57

Excellent service and delicious food!

Review №58

Great place to relax & enjoy some good food in downtown San Antonio. The kids loved it here!!

Review №59

I went for a party. We had the second floor in the evening. Really beautiful on the balcony. You can see the market square below and listen to the music they're playing. Service was quick, friendly, and polite. Tables were set and ready. Food was really good and we had a bar not far. I liked it very much probably will be there again.

Review №60

Mariachi music and margaritas... No way you can go wrong!!

Review №61

Food and atmosphere were great!

Review №62

Always terrific service and delicious food. This is a great place to get together with a large group. It is authentic Mexican food at the finest quality. Not to mention that it is always constantly good. It's not one of those places where it depends what cook is on duty. I've always had a great dining experience when I visit this place. It is a go to for office celebratory luncheons.

Review №63

Went for a wedding reception there. The venue was at the top of the restaurant with some steep stairs, but the place was a good size. The staff was courteous and friendly. The food was very good and tasty.

Review №64

Fun times. Food is ok

Review №65

Great atmosphere. We will go back every time we go to San Antonio. Great food and great service. Lots of history in this place. Great for all ages.

Review №66

The food was very delicious, it was my first time eating there. If you are in market square make it a destination to at this establishment. You will not be disappointed.

Review №67

We thought La Margarita was perfect. My wife and I split a liter of the House Margarita & a fajita. You can tell that everything is fresh and good quality. Great atmosphere and friendly staff as well.

Review №68

Horrible service order the chile relleno told us it will be ready in 15 min we get here in 15 min they call to say they didn't have any chile relleno very unprofessional never going back

Review №69

My favorite of all the Market Square restaurants is right here. Great food and drinks. I enjoy their fabulous campechana. We came here for National Margarita Day and was not disappointed!

Review №70

Amazing authentic breakfasts!

Review №71

Service was great, but the atmosphere was very loud, which is a plus to some people if you like very festive surroundings. Just a little too loud for us. Food was good. They're was a ton of cheese used in all of our dishes, so much that it was a tad chewy. Other than that, though, I liked it.

Review №72

Picture it... July 4, 2018 - In town from Dallas to visit family for the 4th.We arrived at the Market in San Antonio at 5pm on the 4th of July. A storm was blowing in and we needed to take shelter. La Margarita was the place. Cold Beer, outstanding margaritas and bean and cheese nachos. What else do you need! The service was outstanding and the food was hot and fresh. We waited out the rain and hit the shops. We certainly beat the crowds! Not our first nor our last visit to La Margarita.

Review №73

Very good and reasonable priced!

Review №74

Affordable and tasty, great nargaritas!

Review №75

Great food, great ambiance! The fresh made lemonade was excellent! Food was flavorful, service alright and the mariachi band was nice too (was a little loud at times). Portions were between medium to large, the fresh churro stand outside is an added plus. Looking forward to going back when we are in the area.

Review №76

Came on a Saturday night, whilst travelling through the US and staying in San Antonio. We were not familiar with Mexican Cuisine but the waiter made us welcome and made some suggestions. The food was good and tasty. The restaurant has a really nice feel to it with a real atmosphere.

Review №77

My husband loved his beef fajitas, he stated they were flavorful and plentiful. My beef taco salad was a different story. It was filled with whole spinach leaves and large sections of romaine. There was a very small amount of avocado, cheese, diced tomatoes and some beef strips. The multigrain taco shell was stale. The salad was not flavorful.

Review №78

Enchiladas Pollo en Mole were fantastic with a bit of spice. Guac was bland and standard rice and beans which is only thing preventing 5 stars. Lots of entertainment around the restaurant at all times.

Review №79

Shorter lines than mi Tierra next door. Delicious. Get the Dos Rita margarita.

Review №80

Fresh seafood and unique sauce makes the food unique

Review №81

So glad my wife and I decided to take a lunch stop here while shopping in the Square. Chips and salsa were a challenge to stop eating and the food was amazing. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes and these were by far the best I've ever had. My wife enoyed a Puffy Taco for the first time and was blown away. Fast and friendly service at a great price.

Review №82

Very good fish tacos, the seasoning is spot on! Good salsa also

Review №83

Good food good service

Review №84

We spent the afternoon with lots of different flavor of margaritas and dessert. The outside dinning is nice too.

Review №85

This place was amazing! The food, the drinks, the live mariachi, the restaurant and service was great!WillDefinitely go back

Review №86

Great service, wonderful food!

Review №87

Nice selection of lunch specials. Fair pricing. Fast service. No issues.

Review №88

The food was not as appealing as it appears on the menu. The waiter waant too patient morning as attentive as he could've been. But wasn't going to let that upset our vacation. Three stars is the best I could give them

Review №89

Delicious Homemade food great PRICES!

Review №90

Nice location for delicious Mexican food.

Review №91

A real gem! I highly recommend it if you eat in market Square, staff is friendly and the quesadillas are delicious. The decor is also very nice and typical.

Review №92

Although the food and service was very good when we told the server about a email we recently got, they refused to honor it saying we had to show them the email. We are from Corpus Christi, Texas. We came down to celebrate our anniversary. We told them okay that's fine. But I think if any company sends out an email they too should have recipient of whatever they sent out... We had a good time, we just wish the Cortez family should of honor the email.

Review №93

Puffy tacos was something new to me. The chips were too thick for my liking and the chicken was flavorless compared to other restaurants I visited in San Antonio. Service was good.

Review №94

Very nice good food

Review №95

Not authentic by any means. My chicken fajitas weren't sizzling, the chicken looked so dry and onions were pure raw. I didn't even touch my plate. Definitely do not recommend.

Review №96

Food was delicious, Service great.

Review №97

Expensive and food is dry. I will NEVER come back. The microwave is their best friend.

Review №98

I enjoy this place. Been going here from many years. Lots of memories made there.

Review №99

Great location in market square. Food and service was great.

Review №100

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with this restaurant. After being sat down it was a while before anyone took our drink order. Andres took our order, but once our food arrived he was never to be seen until we asked for the check. My wife's plate was fine but mine was cold and I ended up eating less that a fourth of the plate. When we brought it to his attention he didn't apologize or try to make things right. The only thing he said was here's your check. Need less to say, I won't ever be coming back to this place.
