Bluefin Japanese Restaurant

This restaurant is my favorite site. Of all restaurants I know I like it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. when I I need a decent dinner, this restaurant comes straight to my head. exeptionalgorgeous and food and a rich menu.courteous crew, and good spirit. Not less important, the charge is reasonable. I recommend this spot with great pleasure.

Review №2

Food was amazing, presentation was good, service was great. This place can get busy so coming in off hours is a plus. They have a bar also, parking is on the street and is very limited. There is a sign stating there is parking in rear, not sure about it. Few of the booth seats really need to be fixed and are not too comfortable. Restrooms were not in the best state and this was before rush hour.

Review №3

Food and service were amazing. Even during Covid, FRESH

Review №4

The food and service were above our expectations. I surely enjoyed the environment of this spot. Nice restaurant to take my family out for dinner.

Review №5

We had a great experience here! Sushi was on point, and service was excellent.

Review №6

I go to this special restaurant every couple of days since I love the special air that is part of this restaurant. The crew is very helpful and professional. The service is certainly quick. Needless to say, the food you get is perfect. I came often and I was always delighted. The rate is honest. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends.

Review №7

If you're a sushi fan, and looking for an easy solution to dinner before a game or concert at SAP Center, then you won't be disappointed with Blue Fin. They've got some yummy signature cocktails and great starters. I had the Sushi Sampler with a nice selection of nigiri and a tempura roll. Delicious! Recommendation: if you're a party of 3 or 4, I highly recommend one of the high back booths for privacy and a quieter conversation as the restaurant get's a little noisy when busy.

Review №8

We arrived at this place for lunch. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was very nice. The crew welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We had a great time and we shall definitely come back again. Recommended.

Review №9

This place lived up to the hype. The food was fresh, the staff was prompted and attentive and the ambiance is cool. I'll definitely be back... need to try some more of their

Review №10

We sat at the lounge after being told we would have same service (on,y one other tab,e occupied at the lounge).Unfortunately we had to wait beyond reason: for our courses to arrive and people at the restaurant were served before us even if getting in later; nobody coming to check on us for drinks and after politely walking up to the counter with empty glasses we were asked to wait (and this was water)The food is good (price on the high side) but the restaurant is severely understaffed and priority is given to main tables: and if you consume alchol.Nobody even said "we are sorry for the wait" when presenting the check

Review №11

Awesome happy hour menu and everything i ate was delicious.

Review №12

We had the Bluefin Omakase "Trust your chef" special. It was plentiful and it covered a wide range of styles. All of the appetizer courses were tasty, but they were heavy with soy and vinegar. It was interesting, but I prefer to taste my sushi instead of covering it's delicateness in sauces. The service was great. We were moving slowly because we talked so much, but the plates kept coming. The last two courses of sashimi and nigiri were very traditional, clean and delicious. I really enjoyed them.

Review №13

Very good sushi restaurant that has a nice selection of sushi with REAL crab and not the imitation. They also offer the dinner “surprise” that requires a day in advance notice and the chef creates a meal for you. Fish is very good and seems to be very fresh. Another good thing is it is open late. They have a full bar. That is separate from the dining area.

Review №14

Excellent food, excellent service!I had omakase dinner with my grandparents and they loved it. If you happen to visit or pass San Jose, you definitely visit Bluefin.

Review №15

My family and I visited this place the other day for my birthday. It was our first visit. The atmosphere was great, we were the first ones to arrive for the 4 o'clock opening. I had gone online and made a reservation for 4:15. We arrived on time and were seated right away but we were told that the waitresses start at 4:30.I thought to myself, "their scheduling is a bit off", but no big deal. We waited 10 minutes for water, about 20 for our waitress, I think she was running a bit late. She took our order then 5 minutes after that our miso soup came, waited another 15 minutes and our sushi came. Our main dishes were served at the same time as the .On our table we had teriyaki steak, teriyaki chicken with tempura, katsu chicken, California rolls and spicy tuna rolls. The food was good, I was expecting a bit better for an upscale looking place and their prices. I am a big believer of, you get what you pay for but in this case, not so much. Almost everyone enjoys a nice experience in a public bathroom, right? I sure do, but I was disappointed in my bathroom visit, I for sure thought it would match the atmosphere of the rest of the restaurant but, not so much. The service was great and everyone was friendly and polite. There is a parking lot in the back. Will I return? Maybe after I try every other Japanese restaurant in San Jose first.

Review №16

The sashimi shots were amazing! Romantic atmosphere as well as great service! Would definitely come again and recommend yo

Review №17

This spot is worth visiting. They have big portions for fair rates. Regularly neat and with fantastic character. Will visit here again.

Review №18

Good food, good service, nice people. The ambiance was nice but the booth that we sat in had torn upholstery was looking a little shotty.

Review №19

Would surely recommend trying this spot. Exceptional ambience, fresh dishes, awesome customer service. Great work.

Review №20

We were able to walk in and grab a seat at the bar. Great service and menu variety. The food was 8/10.

Review №21

This place is a favorote of mine! Love the taste and that it doesnt break my wallet. Definitely recomend!

Review №22

The sushi here is consistently fresh, delicious and flavorful. The staff is friendly and the sake excellent

Review №23

I ordered the sushi omakase. There was a lot of sushi for the price, and it was all very clean and quality fish, however the selection wasn't as varied as I have had when I ordered omakase at other restaurants. Service was very good and their other rolls, such as the unagi macadamia nut roll, were creative and delicious.

Review №24

First time dinning at Blue fin, I haven't seen Jun (sushi chef) in 10 years and he still looks the same he is an amazing chef... The sushi, salmon, and beef were Delicious.. and the shooters were amazing... Such a wonderful atmosphere....

Review №25

Bluefin is one of the best sushi restaurants in downtown San Jose. The sushi is fresh, the ambiance is great and always have good service. They also have a big handsome bar with a happy hour! We refer all our guests at Arena Hotel to Bluefin when the ask us. See you soon and Go Sharks!

Review №26

Nice sushi experience across the street from Whole Foods. Can be a bit of a wait to get sushi after ordering, but the fish is good and the service lovely.

Review №27

Delicious food and great staff. Their happy hour menu is even better than their non happy hour menu.

Review №28

Very satisfied with this place. Food is delicious and service is courteous.

Review №29

Best Japanese food and bar in San Jose. As you may see the selection is quite large! add some great sushi and an excellent wait staff experience my friend you have a winner! You want to impress your loved one on a hot dinner date in San Jose CA this is the place!

Review №30

I decided to try this place after attending an event at the SAP center. The place is about a 8 minute walk. Upon entering I was welcomed and provided great customer service. I tried three different sushi plates and found each one to be tasty. I wish I came earlier because me and my wife wanted seconds. We were also surprised the meal cost only $30. This place ended up having a high class look and good prices. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Review №31

It is a solid japanese restaurant with good selection of sushi and other seafood dishes. Good quality and freshness.

Review №32

Japanese food, mmm, delicious. I love eating here. I've had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back. Prices are fair I would say. They have so many good reviews for a reason.

Review №33

Fine spot for delicious Japanese food. i'll return with my coworkers. this place has a nice feel to it. feels similar to a cafe in chicago i loved.

Review №34

We had over 20 people for a graduation celebration. They did a wonderful job with all my special requests. The food was delicious and service flawless

Review №35

Wonderful experience. Service excellent. Dishes tasty. Enjoyed it.

Review №36

Great place for dinner for before any event at the SAP. I had been coming to this place for year and never disappoints. The chef takes pride on his food and love what he does. They have a few signature drinks worth trying.Staff is very friendly and service is great.Parking is in the back of the building.

Review №37

I've been here for dinner several times and it's location is very convenient if you're going to any event at the SAP center. Classy atmosphere as far as sushi joints go in my opinion and the quality of the fish is excellent. I've never left hungry or disappointed.

Review №38

Amazing!! Absolutely loved it here. Great, outstanding service, relaxing, soothing athmosphere, and the food tasted sooo fresh and came out in a heartbeat!Highly recommend!

Review №39

Jun the sushi chef is fabulous. The food is so tasty - practically melts in your mouth. The wasabi is fresh & even the ginger is incredible. Full bar with nice cocktails as well as a nice sake selection

Review №40

Limited vegetarian options as you would expect in a Japanese restaurant. I had the vegetarian roll which were quite refreshing. The tempura wasn't as great. Howeey the service was good and the ambiance good for a corporate meal with colleagues. All in all a good place if you wanted to go for dinner to a Japanese restaurant.

Review №41

Happy hour menu is decent, oysters are nicely presented and tasty.

Review №42

Good sushi. Nice lunch spot and would be good for a work lunch.

Review №43

Food was delicious!! Our server was Jenifer, she was fantastic!! She made wonderful recommendations and provided the perfect amount of attentiveness. Will definitely be back when we are in town!

Review №44

Good spot for tasty japanese food. Arrived at six, it was not packed. Nothing but pleasant experiences here.

Review №45

Great service. Great food.

Review №46

Atmosphere is modern, stylish, but showing signs of wear (scratched/torn furniture). Ordered two special rolls to go: one (japango) was arranged beautifully and tasted amazing!! Great texture! The other (spider roll) was dry and sparse with ingredients. (It claimed to have sprouts, but only one sprig was used as a garnish. One skinny piece of softshell crab used. No sauce other than soy sauce, served on the side as an option.) Miso soup had three pea-sized tofu, no seaweed or other seasoning. Staff was very pleasant and the place was clean and neat. A place like this, trendy and stylish in such a high traffic location, should be able to maintain 5 stars across the board. Hope they improve.

Review №47

Awesome sushi. Awesome service at the bar, and Daniel made one of the best Old Fashioneds I've ever had.

Review №48

Very good sushi. Perfect temperature, quality.

Review №49

Clean and good variety of sashimi and cooked item with the lunch sashimi set. Huge bowl of rice was surprising at the begin but actually needed two. Silky smooth soft bluefin, chutoro and love the akami bits.

Review №50

Great sushi. Great service...

Review №51

Serving very good Japanese food, and the sashimi dish was so fresh and delicious. A very good place to dine especially if you are waiting to see the shows at the HP Pavilion

Review №52

Excellent Japanese restaurant. High end food and service with prices to match.

Review №53

Super busy, next time I will make a reservation

Review №54

Great happy hour here!

Review №55

Best Sushi and amazing customer service. I have been coming here for almost 2 years. Great place to go to before an event at the SAP center. It can get busy because it's so popular so plan accordingly.

Review №56

Awesome place to go. The ambiance is so nice. Parking in the back. Very private place. The waitresses are very knowledgeable about the drinks as well as the food menu. Great sushi and shushimi.

Review №57

Terrific. The jalapeno Halibut appetizer was amazing. The Sushi was also fresh and flavorful.

Review №58

Been here many times. Great selection and good sake.

Review №59

5 star sushi in SJ

Review №60

I thought this was some of the best & freshest sushi we have ever had. The service was perfect as well. If we lived in San Jose, it would be on our list of places to eat often.

Review №61

Great establishment for fresh sushi

Review №62

Always love the ambience and the staff is great

Review №63

Favorite sushi bar in the South Bay. Excellent Sonu drinks. Sushi is always very fresh & delicious.

Review №64

Always a good meal and excellent service

Review №65

Unfortunately the service and the quality has gone down. We have visited the restaurant for several years and this last visit was the final. The sushi we ordered was rolled loose, and was very small and definitely not worth the price they changed. We also ordered hot sake and it was poor quality at a cost way over priced. I would not be sad if a better restaurant replaces this one.

Review №66

Food was really good. Nice and fresh, and the ramen was amazing. First time having real ramen and I really enjoyed it.

Review №67

Went for lunch. Their sushi and sashimi are ok, not the best but certainly not the worst. A solid 4 stars, probably reasonable within the price bracket. Their miso soup was fresh and excellent, and the karage was an interesting style I had not had before, but still was close enough to be of my liking. They have an extensive drink menu and their lunch combos are quite filling.

Review №68

Modern interior. Excellent food. Some of the best Korean BBQ beef I've had in California. The sushi is excellent. Generous servings. The owner, Jun and his team are artists. Do yourself a favor and come here. I do every coupe weeks and always love it.

Review №69

Had a few dishes here with my gal pal, spent $90 before tip. Food was average for the price they charged. Service was good but then again, we were the only one in the restaurant. I don't plan on coming back here again.

Review №70

Excellent sushi and happy hour drinks.

Review №71

Great service at the bar!

Review №72

Usually not too busy and good quality sushi and rolls. More expensive than I'd normally want to go to for what it is but the happy hour specials are pretty good (4-7pm most days).

Review №73

This is a very cool place great drinks even really cool exotic drinks. fantastic desserts. Really nice atmosphere

Review №74

The service was great and the food was better. I had the sashimi and my compatriot and I shared the kalbi shortribs and a dragon roll. The sashimi was absolutelt delicious. I normally despise mackerall but Bluefin's fish was so DAMN fresh that I absolutely loved it. I devoured it in a surprised haze because I never have enjoyed that type of oil laden fish. They must have marinated it in vinegar or something because the flavor was not as fishy as it normally is. The tuna was fatty and absolutely delicious. The dragon roll was once again delicious and the tempura shrimp inside was so crispy i was able to eat the tail. The kalbi was as tender as Ive ever had it but it still had that satisfying chew that accompanies a well prepared shortrib. The service was top notch. Quick and friendly, welcoming and warm. I will absolutelt return to this establishment and Ill sing its praises to whoever wants a great sushi experience at a reasonable price. Thanks for a great meal Bluefin!

Review №75

Extensive menu covering sushi, sashimi, and traditional entrees. Sushi was portioned generously and the maki creative, even with traditional rolls. Staff was pleasant, attentive but not overbearing.

Review №76

Good food good drinks awesome happy hour and the Bartender Jessica is the best you can catch her 4pm to 10pm M-F

Review №77

Overprice sushi. The restaurant looks nice and neat. 1 star for that.If you are going to host a birthday party, be careful. They charge "cutting cake fee" (and I quote: "$2/ slice")- even on you own birthday cake. They would not tell u and automatically include in your bill, so look before you sign.Happy hour is only at the bar, not at table.Sushi is ok. Too much for what it's worth. Sushi infinity is near by.

Review №78

The ambiance was fantastic and the drinks were great! Prices are high but the sushi boat was superb

Review №79

Sushi can be hit or miss...BF is a legit HIT!!!

Review №80

Quality has gone way down. Been coming here for years. Plates have gotten smaller, but the prices have gotten higher. Staff is not as friendly.

Review №81

Celebrated my daughters 30th birthday. Appetizers were great so was our dishes. Only warning make sure you get the pricing on the dishes with crab price is over 50 dollars a plate. Food and service was great will definitely go back.

Review №82

Outside of Japantown this is one of the top five sushi restaurant in San Jose.

Review №83

Very good sushi place and good happy hour prices

Review №84

Great place to eat. Food are always fresh and good. Staff are all friendly and accommodating. The place was clean and spacious.

Review №85

Great place. Nice bar and menu. Kevin the hot waiter/bartender suggested a few items from the chefs menu and let him decide for me. I'll definitely be back for the food and wine and Kevin for sure. Yummy..

Review №86

Sea urchin was not fresh on my last visit...

Review №87

Great place great food

Review №88

Truly have had better Sushi practically everywhere

Review №89

Too expensive for the mediocre quality, service and decor. we did like the shooters, but $18 sushi rolls were falling apart had lots of mayo and pepper. Chefs wore no head covering!!! wifi did not work and mobile connectivity was very poor behind these walls. the pricing is very high for a "$$" rated restaurant!! Service was slow and we waited for 10-15 min for the shooters.

Review №90

Best Happy Hour on The Alameda!! Jessica is a great bartender and can make an amazing Mocktail.

Review №91

Fresh and delicious sushi and good cocktails. Have come here twice, most recently enjoyed the Omakase which was the prefect amount of food, great variety at a great price point (highly recommend). The owner/chef even comes to the table which is quite nice.

Review №92

Tasty dishes all the way around. Of course you'll try the sushi, but the Japanese pickle small dish is absolutely a fun share. Tae was fantastic!

Review №93

Excellent sushi quality great happy hour prices and selection.

Review №94

Great food and drinks. I'm coming back for sure.

Review №95

Good sushi list, though they seem to like to put shrimp tempura in EVERYTHING. Sashimi is generally fresh, and a great meal. Great whiskey list!

Review №96

Always have a great experience at Bluefin. Recommended at the price.

Review №97

The Aji mackrel was a real treat, and my wife who doesn't like fish loved the beef teriyaki.

Review №98

Short black hair sitting right on top of my rainbow roll. I'm blonde. The roll was replaced. So 2 stars I suppose

Review №99

Our local fav for Sushi

Review №100

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and maybe some places do it differently but there literally wasn't a drop of sauce on it. It was served with a "salad" with two pieces of broccoli and three carrot sticks. Zero flavor and $20 to boot!
