The homemade margaritas are amazing!! Food was good, customer service was great. Guacamole was ok and the main reason I didn't give 5 stars. It reminded me more of store bought than freshly made. Maybe because I like my guac less creamy and more chunky. Either way it was still good.

Review №2

Their chicken quesadillas are delicious and so are their tacos! I love their outdoor seating, specially during the pandemic. Their complimentary chips and salsa are freshly made. I don't really drink beer so I can't really say much, it looks like they have a large variety though. This is definitely a nice place to enjoy yummy food and good drinks. The waitress/manager could be friendlier.

Review №3

Only had drinks, but staff was very friendly and attentive!

Review №4

The service was friendly but not great. We arrived and were seated right away but there are no menus so you have to use your phone to look it up. They came to take our drink order before we could even get the drink menu pulled up on our phones (it's separate from the food menu) so we just ordered water. Other tables got chips and salsa while they waited except ours. One of my party ordered the churro which looked great but the dish they served it in was so small that the waiter spilled it out on the table when he delivered it. I ordered the nachos and they were supposed to come with jalapenos and salsa and they came out just plain cheese. I'm not sure if we will be back.

Review №5

The tacos were very filling and tasted great! The staff was very pleasant, and it was a nice place to grab lunch.

Review №6

While their food is really good for tex mex, (albeit the portion sizing is small for the price with no sides) their pressed burritos are amazing. Service was atrocious on a Sunday visit. I know COVID has put quite the damper on things. But let me explain...1st: We showed up and the waitress tells us "just a 5 - 10 min wait". Understandable, there are only 9 outdoor tables and nothing inside. However, it ended up being a 25 mins standing on the corner in the hot sun, wait.2nd: They are still advertising a brunch menu on their website that is from 11am to 3pm Sat and Sun. We arrived at 1pm on Sunday and upon sitting down, the waitress gave me an abrupt and confused, "No, we aren't doing that". I retorted to tell her their website is advertising it still, may want to change. No response from her, not even a sorry.3rd: We ordered chips and salsa (and at a Mexican restaurant they should be free, but no, they charge $3.00) Not only that, but we ended up waiting 15 mins for chips and salsa...4th: Once our food arrived, it was really good. Burrito was amazing with the pork and it made the wait somewhat worth it.5th. Our waitress didn't check on us, never asked how we liked our food, and refilled our drinks once.6th and final: They over charged me, after signing the check and remembering the total, I just checked my bank statement and they ended up charging me more than for what I signed! For a $35 lunch and being treated like my patronage was not welcomed, not sure I'll be returning...

Review №7

Chili Cheese Dip was phenomenal to start. Ahi Tuna Tacos were killer. I'd definitely come back for more. We enjoyed the outdoor-only seating with delicious beer on tap. Friday evening was great for people watching too.

Review №8

We absolutely love this place! Tacos and bowls never disappoint! Great margaritas! Curbside pick up is just as fresh! You won't be disappointed with this place!

Review №9

Today we chose to try this restaurant for the first time but they were out of everything and they did not tell us until we had already ordered. Particularly, a problem when one person in our group was a vegetarian and they keep coming back to tell you they are out of food items three different times. (After you have already waited for 45 minutes to an hour and there are only so many items on the menu you can eat) Apparently, they lost our order and we sat watching people who arrived after us get their orders, eat, and leave. Quality of food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the time and effort. Wait service was poor as well (drink refills, adhering to Covid practices, communicating food issues mentioned above) and this was not even at a busy time. When we mentioned the above items when paying the bill, the employee told us next time we should just eat somewhere else. Usually don't complain and we have much empathy for restaurant owners/workers because we have been in their shoes but this was too much. Will take their advice and assure them we will never go back and we will suggest the same to others. BTW, not tourists or colllege students!

Review №10

Definitely not was I expecting for Mexican food. The waitress was nice and attentive, the food was poor. I have eaten a lot of Mexican food and food tasted like straight out of a can. Definitely not fresh and not what I expected for a beef burrito. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Review №11

Right downtown. Walking distance from about everything. Lots of outdoor seating. Fresh ingredients and good food. Lots of beers to choose from. Friendly staff that know their stuff

Review №12

We love Beer Bario! Great outdoor seating right now during COVID. Their margaritas are my favorite and the food is always so good.

Review №13

Beer barrio has some really tasty food! The young blonde cook in the back was slinging out tacos like a top chef, she needs a raise!!!

Review №14

Delicious nachos and wonderful service! They were amazing dealing with my peanut and tree nut allergy. I deeply appreciate the care they took. I will definitely be back!

Review №15

Great service and great food. Also great jalapeño margaritas

Review №16

During COVID-19, you can enjoy this amazing food with outdoor seating. $5 Tacos is where it's at!! My husband and I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos and I was speechless. Juice was running down from the tacos to my mouth and I did not care...They were DELICIOUS! The tuna itself was seasoned so well I could of ate it alone. The homemade guacamole, chips and salsa just made everything worthwhile.

Review №17

Super yummy food! The chips and guacamole was great! I had the quesadilla with the pastor pork. Oh yeah! My wife had the burrito bowl and that was very good as well. There is outside seating during Covid. A great stop if you find yourself in Wilmington.

Review №18

MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN WILMINGTON! From the fresh guacamole to the amazing pressed burritos you cannot go wrong! Sitting out on the blue tables in the sunshine while sipping on some beers. Amazing service as well!

Review №19

This is a great spot for some wonderful Mexican food. Start with some complimentary chips and salsa. I would suggest saying you are paying separate if you're with a friend (doesn't cost more separately but if you are together and request more they charge extra). The food is always quick to get to your table so it's a wonderful lunch choice. They are always busy and have the best margaritas in town. My only request is the owner/manager/waitstaff are happier and more friendly to the guests. It's a busy restaurant so be happy you have guests. I've gone in multiple times and although the food and atmosphere is great, the vibe isn't. Now that's not all wait staff, but majority.

Review №20

Excellent guacamole!!! That was my favorite part of the visit. The tacos we're very good but I do think it was a little on the pricey side. I'm from DC so it doesn't bother me too much but just know it is a bit more costly. Service was great

Review №21

A cute place with a lot of flavor. Friendly and attentive staff, and great tasting food. Oh and before I forget, the beer on tap! Barley a must's a beer from Skytown Beer Company, same owners as Beer Barrio. Shout out to Hayley!!

Review №22

Different styles of tacos. Both got something different and were satisfied with what we ordered. Good margaritas

Review №23

It was ok taco was ground chicken not grill chicken mine taco was soggy

Review №24

1st timer!! Chicken taco was delicious & of course the mimosas were on point...will return soon!!

Review №25

Had the cheeseburger, black bean, and ahi tuna tacos. Literally, the BEST tacos I've ever had!

Review №26

Everyone enjoyed their food. My tacos were very good. The bowl and the nachos orders were delicious as well. Good selection of beer although we didn't order any. It was smaller inside than I expected. Our table near the front door was subject to cold breezes due to the front door opening. Not much they can do about the layout, but regardless, it's not ideal and I feel it takes away from the overall experience. The staff was excellent. So courteous and attentive. Wish they had a better space

Review №27

What an awesome place!! Lively atmosphere with great music playing. We had the pulled pork nachos and the tequila lime chicken burrito, both fabulous!! Complimentary chips and salsa also (salsa was excellent!). Tropical Lightning beer on tap, perfect! We'll definitely be back!

Review №28

Best margarita in town. In house home made sangria & margs. Brunch menu on weekend order shrimp & grits, I promise you'll thank me !

Review №29

My waiter was the sweetest man ever!♡

Review №30

Awesome beer selection. Crazy amount of craft brews on tap. And the tacos... OMG those $5 tacos are just the best.

Review №31

Food was just ok. Service was really slow. It has a great location in downtown.

Review №32

Good tacos and cold beer - outdoor seating during COVID-19

Review №33

Hefty, and delicious tacos. A bit messy, sure, but what do you expect from tacos? It was our waitress' second day on the job so there were some hiccups. 2 of our 4 meals came out about 10 minutes after the others, and there was some chicken vs. pork confusion that was quickly resolved. If it tells you anything, I have gone to Beer Barrio my last two visits to Wilmington, and would gladly go again for their streetside outdoor seating alone.

Review №34

Excellent environment and very friendly service. Love it

Review №35

Food is average but the hip style makes for confusion. It's a mess to eat with no silverware or napkins. The bartenders and wait staff aren't very smart and it's annoying. It's expensive and not very filling. Someone had a cool idea but whoever runs the place sucks and they don't hire well. I'd skip this place when in Wilmington, on such a busy road you have much better and cheaper choices.

Review №36

I can't say enough positive things about this place. Amazing menu, great rotating beer menu and phenomenal staff. I spoke with both of the owners while here and they are truly great people. This is a hidden gem of Wilmington.

Review №37

Loved Beer Barrio! Great guacamole appetizer, tacos and burrito. Can't wait to go here again!

Review №38

The best loaded nachos and margaritas. Customer service is fantastic. Outdoor and indoor seating. My go to place in downtown.

Review №39

Great selection of food and beer. This is a must stop.

Review №40

Great vegan options, loved the smoky black bean tacos!

Review №41

Great margaritas, guac, and vegan cheese. The black bean taco with vegan cheese was one of the best tacos I've eaten in a long time!

Review №42

Good food, though a bit pricey

Review №43

So delicious! We had thr chips and salsa of course. The salsa isn't the usual bland red but rather a smoky yummy salsa. The chips are fresh and crisp with a good amount of salt on them. I really love that they charge extra for chips and salsa because I always tend to over indulge in them and never eat my entree. We had the bowl with beef, a beef quesdilla, and pork nachos. Rave reviews for all three. A little less understanding about $1 extra for more sour cream for my 2 yr olds quesadilla but I know how it goes.

Review №44

Went back recently for lunch and I must say my wife and I were disappointed this time around. There was a pretty good crowd but it wasn't overly busy. The staff was not very friendly and the service was painfully slow. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a bean burrito and my wife ordered a bean quesadilla, it took 40 minutes to get it! Mine was okay, my wife didn't like hers- there were tortilla chips in the middle of it, not sure why! With so many better options downtown we're in no hurry to go back. They do have a big beer selection though.

Review №45

This is a must go place in the heart of downtown. Very consistent and great prices. If you enjoy tacos and or beer, you have to try it. You will not be disappointed.

Review №46

A tale of two tacos:This is not the authentic corner taco shop of rural North Carolina. I knew that going in this was a bar with a great draft list and good margaritas and that tacos were the salt to build more thirst. With that said these are also not $2 tacos that blow your mind in the little bitty corn tortilla, this is more oriented towards chips and salsa and service and let me get you another beer. All that's fine, I enjoy that, but the two tacos I ordered were in contrast to one another.Taco number one. Oh yum. The very helpful person at the bar indicated that I could not go wrong ordering the al pastor taco. She was right. Tender very nicely spiced pork with cheese melted onto the tortilla made a lovely comforting combination. Knowing that it was not the typical taco shop, I was still surprised when it came with little shredded chip pieces on the top and jalapenos sliced. Nevertheless the combo of jalapenos and pork and cheese and that wonderfully soft warm tortilla made for a taco absolutely worth eating. I would order it again and recommend it to others, including you, dear fellow taco lover. In contrast, in spite of the recommendation of this very same helpful person, I did not find the chicken taco to be everything that it built itself up to be. Clearly it's not the chicken's fault. It would be hard to blame a chicken even if it was their fault. But there was a lot of show and not that much substance. Wait let me correct that, there was actually too much substance. Imagine if you will a nearly soggy but once crisp corn tortilla that is cold, slathered with guacamole and nested around a lukewarm soft corn tortilla holding the remainder of the chicken filling pico de gallo and other ingredients, all stitched together in a large zigzag pattern of sour cream. Sounds kind of good right? Seems like it would have potential yes? Well it does, it has potential to be very very messy, confuse your taste buds with a mixture of hot and cold that just doesn't seem to blend well, and then get down to the core of the bite which is chicken that was not spiced that well, according to my taste. I saw others around me ordering this taco, and enjoying it immensely. All of which is to say that this might be a great menu option for you, it just wasn't for me. So while I may not personally recommend it, I'm not saying anything dire about it.I will reiterate that this is a bar that also serves good tacos, has very helpful staff, a wide selection of draft beers, and a pretty good understanding of what a good margarita should be. Recommended.

Review №47

Love the chips and salsa and the price is also great. oldies music playing alsolike this review please

Review №48

We had a great lunch here while passing through Wilmington. They had lots of great choices on the menu and the food was excellent

Review №49

Great experience and wonderful food every time I've visited

Review №50

This was our first time dining at Beer Barrio and we were extremely pleased with the quality and taste of all of the food. Being from California, I've had my share of chips n salsa and I have to say, the house made salsa is everything! Haley and her team were amazing and the frozen margaritas were on point! I will stop by anytime we are in Wilmington.

Review №51

Awesome good, fabulous staff, fantastic prices.

Review №52

So good! Tequila lime chicken bowl was the best I've had! So flavorful.

Review №53

We visit Wilmington once or twice a year for vacation or our anniversary. Every time we come to BB the service is quick, and the staff are always kind and friendly! This time I stopped the manager just to tell her how much we appreciated that. If you like Mexican food with fresh ingredients, served piping hot.....Try them out! Also, their buffalo wings are AMAZING!!! Highly recommend!!!

Review №54

Great Mexican food, not Tex Mex. Quality service.

Review №55

The food here is so good...highly recommend!

Review №56

Taco were good, but not worth $5 a taco; $3 maybe... Chips and salsa were ok as well. My son agrees with the 4 stars and says it was worth a try at least once.

Review №57

DO NOT EAT HERE!! I got food poisoning as well as my entire family. If I could give zero stars I would.

Review №58

Had some tacos here today for the first time and they were amazing ! I loved the grilled chicken taco. I will definitely come back for more next time I'm in Wilmington! They also let our dog dine with us put on the patio and brought him a bowl of water!

Review №59

Great tacos! Modern take on classic street tacos. They also have a good beer selection. Reasonable prices too!

Review №60

Great Mexican. I had the black bean taco, the tuna taco, and some chips. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Wilmington!

Review №61

Amazing restaurant located in downtown Wilmington that offers indoor or outdoor seating, a selection of beers, and incredible tacos!

Review №62

First time here and their house margarita is amazing! Got here for brunch and their play on an eggs Benedict was on point. Many craft beer selections for you beer guys out there. Stop by and have at least one margarita you wont regret it

Review №63

Awesome staff, phenomenal tacos! I had the Al Pastor and a Catfish Po Boy taco, bother were unbelievable. The beer selection was a mile long and included some local breweries. Excellent place!

Review №64

Was in Wilmington for a work trip and looking for a good place to catch tacos. Soooo glad that I looked them up on Yelp and tried them out. Loved the hush puppies that had chorizo, jalapeños and cheese in them! The smoky black bean taco was huge, made with fresh ingredients and very filling! Will definitely be back! They also have over 20 beers on tap.

Review №65

Last night was the first time at this place. It's the day before Thanksgiving my wife is outta town for three weeks and needed to whine down after work. A coworker suggested his regular spot. It's funny I have passed this place many times heading around the corner to Wake and Bake. I am very pleased to say that it was the perfect spot. Although it was full it wasn't noisy like some other places. Everyone was nice and chill the music playing at the time was 70's.We sat by the bar and ordered 10 hot wings for $12, Elote (Mexican corn on the cob) $5, and some brewskis I don't really like beer gives me terrible gas but I thought they Angry Orchard on tap, but they didn't. Tori the bar keep, offered me an alternative that was very similar and asked if I wanted a sample but I decided to just go head in and order it.A few minutes later they gave us chips and salsa which was great by the way chips were crispy and the salsa had this smokey bbq flavor. The wings we ordered were flavorful and crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Of course they were hot enough to sting and enjoy. The Elote was also very good now I've had very few experiences with Mexican corn on the cob. The first place was in Chili's, best place yet. Second was at San Felipe it was a dissapointment, and third was here it was juat right. It was a smaller serving than Chili's but the full flavor was there plus it was slightly chargrilled burnt marks which was great. The apple cider they gave me was awesome to me it tasted like a light apple juice with a tangy taste. It was Soo good I had to order another. The cider was local, they have many local options but my surprise was the fact that the maker of my cider drink was made by SkyTown one of the local brewerys I recently reviewed.Overall I think you should visit Beer Bario, it's a good place to hang with some friends or meet new friends and throw back a couple of local brews that will not dissapoint. Plus the ambiance it pretty quiet for a full house and the background music is just right to enjoy a conversation. Of you sit by the bar there is this great art piece you must see. I didn't get to snap a pic.

Review №66

The food was good but took forever to get to us. Used a credit card there that I seldom use and suddenly my card was compromised. Had to have a new one with a new number issued. I would suggest paying with cash. Just saying.

Review №67

Always delicious!! They have vegetarian tacos and vegan cheese as an option. The tacos are $5 each and normally I get two and I'm full. The tacos are hard and soft shells stuck together with guacamole or queso. They are so good!! They have margaritas on tap and the service is always good. The place is small so expect to have to wait if you go at a busy time.

Review №68

Great food, beverages, and staff!!!

Review №69

First time eating here and will come back. Great food great beer great service.

Review №70

Solid 5 out 5! I usually NEVER like guacamole BUT theirs was amazing! Pulled pork taco is where it's at.

Review №71

Really liked their beer selection, especially for a Mexican restaurant! Lots of delicious and rare brews. Small menu, but we liked our taco.. The thing that disturbed us was that we noticed a drink sent back due to a bug.. and rather than make a new one, the server simply strained out the bug and returned it. When we commented on it, he cursed at us and was super rude. Don't think we will be back.

Review №72

We've been twice, both times the food was good and servers were really friendly. They were really sweet to our children. The salsa is great and the tacos are fun. The margaritas aren't super strong but they taste fantastic. Our children begged to go back for more “so so so good chicken quesadillas”

Review №73

Had a great experience with Alex (HE WAS AWESOME) and Chelsea. Alex was our bartender and gave great recommendations, as well as phenomenal customer service. I had no idea what I wanted and Alex helped construct us a phenomenal dining experience for us with his personal recommendations on the menu. I told him what my flavor profile was for my beer and he brought me out a ton of samples, all of which I loved. He didn't make the decision making process any easier, but everything we got was amazing because it was curated and recommended by our bartender.I will be back here, and regularly, due to that 100% customer oriented service. Thank you, Alex.

Review №74

All the yes. I could go off about how good all the tacos are but just go and eat them. EAT THEM ALL! Staff is all super nice and friendly. Food came out quickly but still picture worthy perfect. Over 25 beers on tap!! What more could you ask for?!?!

Review №75

Don't take my review too seriously because I'm from Tx and it's hard to find the style I enjoy. However, service was great and the tacos were decent. Also, I got the fresh chocolate chip cookies and those were ok too! A little too sweet and sugary for my taste, but still fresh and warm!

Review №76

Best guacamole you will ever have and huge tacos at reasonable prices.

Review №77

Really fun, different place. Great burrito, great service. Weird dessert. I wouldn't recommend the deep fried bacon brownie with chipotle chocolate sauce, but the folks I was with really liked it. Would love to go back for dinner again.

Review №78

I've passed by this place many times. I'm not the biggest Mexican food fan based on other places around the area. I ate here with my girlfriend and some friends based on her request. I was so pleasantly surprised. Food was delicious, service was friendly, presentation of food beyond other Mexican restaurants in the area. 100 percent will recommend to others.

Review №79

This place is great with some amazing tacos. I would recommend the barbeque and the chicken. They come stuffed so be prepared! I would definitely recommend the house tequila too. It's smooth, there's no burn and it taste great! This place is right in the heart of downtown and they have plenty of outside seating.

Review №80

This place is great, service is great friendly staff, good prices. And they do have a vegan taco that's great

Review №81

Great food and staff. They were very quick to bring food out even though they were packed!

Review №82

Good food even for vegetarian. I got the bowl, and they also give chips and nice salsa

Review №83

Very clean and friendly place.

Review №84

Best place to people watch and drink a great cocktail

Review №85

Pretty good taco place.

Review №86

Delicious tacos for an early dinner on a Sunday evening! Reccomend al pastor & ahi tuna.

Review №87

Awesome staff, super friendly!! The food was delicious; I just feel as if the portions are a tad bit small for the price (the quesadilla in particular). Super cool atmosphere though. A must when in downtown!

Review №88

Been here 5 times in a row. Each and every time the food is delicious and fast. It's a definite staple of the Wilmington Downtown area. Delicious and reliable.

Review №89

Cool place, good food, and friendly service. Wish the menu had a more authentic Mexican options but I imagine for the location and type of consumers they're catering to it works. Has a great quick bite or business meeting feel to it.

Review №90

The Ahi tuna taco was the best taco I've ever had PERIOD!

Review №91

Ridicously good margaritas. Service was great, and the pressed burritos were fantastic. If anything, I'd love to see some more adventurous hot sauces on the table. Right in the heart of downtown - we love it here!

Review №92

The food and the service was excellent. Very deserving of 5 stars. And where we sat outside you could see the sun setting by the lake down the street. Very pleased.

Review №93

The braised beef taco and pulled pork tacos are really good

Review №94

Yummy! Super yummy! But service had to remind our server for apps ordered and food was kinda slow to come out but may have just been that one time. We'll be back!

Review №95

It is a great place to just sit and take in the atmosphere of downtown Wilmington

Review №96

Wow. Simple menu done flawlessly!!!! We were in town for the day. Wish this place was near where we live. We would be regulars. The tacos and burritos were some of the best we have ever had. Homemade guacamole almost as good as our own. The street corn was amazing. Small restaurant. Seating is a bit tight.

Review №97

Daily beer deals. Cheap food. But really good. Just go here it's amazing.

Review №98

Great tacos, cheap and they have Ace Pinapple!

Review №99

Great beer selection! Food was tasty and the wait staff was very friendly.

Review №100

Incredible TACOS. Well marinated seasoned meats. Great salsa all made in house. Definite repeat. Goood.
