Good selection of Mexican choices. Tacos were a little less filled then I'm used to. The ceviche Tostada was good
This has been the best food I ever came across. I was visiting from out of town and decided to try it. I am absolutely in love. Authentic food, great portions. Great service aswell.
Great authentic tacos but heads up if you are an English only speaker. Asking for sauce cup lids took five minutes and two different tries from me and my boyfriend. She basically acted like she did not even hear me. Which infuriated me! So yeah, either be prepared to make request in Spanish or use hand signals while you are stared at as if you are dumb.
I don't know if the pandemic hit La Tapatía in a Bad way or if time wasn't great to them. Either way, what can be said about this restaurant is that it wasn't like it was before. I remember coming here when I was younger and I loved every thing about it. But now everything seems subpart to what it used to be, the food wasn't as hot as it should be, their drink section isn't well kept, and the bathrooms are average.
Awesome food. Very authentic and very welcoming. Their salsa was out of this world and spicy too. The portion size is huge too so you will definitely be taking home left overs. They also have CokaCola in a glass bottle and supposedly it tastes better.
We ask for tacos al pastor and they bring us the corn tortillas with the meat, but no culantrillo and onions. So, they are not authentic taqueria.
Ordered the shrimp soup and they gave me a different soup that had every kinda of seafood in it that I can't eat due to being pregnant and allergies to they refused to fix my order or refund my money the lady was very rude also had their to elementary school students behind the counter touching food
Ok so let's start from the very beginning. Walking in here and you get that delicious smell hitting you in the face. Now that's out of the way, the service is friendly and quick their salsa bar isn't very diverse but there's two options mellow green salsa tomatillo based and a hot red salsa. Both very good. Their lunch specials and the quantity of food is so worth it! 10/10 recommend this place for a quick bite or a sit down visit because the art is wonderful.
They have the best Tacos de Asada!
Pretty good food for some cheap prices. It may look like a small portioned plate be average standards but it is very filling!Definitely feels like authentic Mexican food (in a good way).
I grew up in Southern California and this taco shop is just like the taquerias where I grew up. La Tapatia Taqueria has my highest recommendation!
Very very authentic! I cannot express in words how good the food is, almost like well better than making it fresh at home! Clean and delicious and affordable on a dad budget!
I was pretty disappointed with this restaurant. The water tasted like it had chemicals in it, and it was pink in color. They were “out” of margaritas. I ordered my dish with no tomato, and they put tomatoes all over it. They also have no option for a red mild salsa. They only have a very spicy red salsa, which my daughter could not eat. I will not be back.
The food is delicious with huge portions.
I love Tapatia!! They have real home cooked Mex food!!
Authentic style food reasonable prices you get what you pay for great classic Mexican food
Good mexican menu along with your favorite beer beverage if desired. Quick and efficient. Always busy but not too full that you can't find a table. Nice choice for your Mexican desires!!
Awesome place. Feels comfortable and the food is cheap, but tastes great
The best steak tacos!! $2 each!!
The food is amazing!!! They would have received a 5 but custom service is lacking. They had trouble with order (3 in our party) and made us feel like it was our fault for the confusion. They were training a new cashier that takes the orders and she was fumbling through all of it and we were very patient. They would do better to have servers in this type of environment. It's like a traditional Mexican restaurant except you order at register and some random employee delivers food to table. They also charge you for chips when you get queso....really?!!
Awesome burrito that's for sure, I could barely walk when I left it was so good!
This is the real deal! Best Mexican food, in my opinion, just like I ate back home. And the only place in town I can find that sells pozole. Mmmm!!!! So delicious! I could go broke in here eating everything on the menu! I never leave hungry tho lol!
Dirty (Mens) restrooms, clean tables, awesome food, and friendly staff. Stationary taco truck feel. Ordered dinner Burrito and lunch tacos. Tacos were a shell with meat that you put your own fixings on at the garnish bar. Dinner burrito was typical and can feed two. Overall an ok place to stop if you're looking for something healthy-ish and quick.
Delicious Hispanic restaurant! They often have my food out and ready within 5-10 minutes in the last 4 visits!! Great place to stop by if you have a little more time than fast food but not enough time for a full sit down restaurant!
Love love love!! Amazing tacos, quesadillas, nachos, great dirty meat selection! I adore this place!
Fast service,great food.Outside eating space
Love their Tacos. .I eat there at least 2 times a week. .
Great food and even better staff
Staff is relaxed, but service is still great. The food is authentic and delicious. Prices are decent as well. Best Mexican place in town easily.
Ok but too expensive for mexican food.
Ordered fajitas, nachos supreme & camarones a la diabla (shrimp done wicked spicy, what we heat lovers call "hurts so good"). All 3 dishes were well made, well portioned, delicious and very reasonably priced. We took ours to go, but the restaurant was clean & comfortably pleasant. Oh, there's shaded seating outside, great for evenings and milder days.
Food that exceeded my expectations at a very reasonable price. Great atmosphere, no pretentiousness and good food. What more can you ask for.
Big bang for your buck
Ate lunch there and enjoyed the chicken fajitas. The wife had the chimichanga and was very happy with it. Order at counter and they bring it to you. The salsa and toppings bar is tucked away in the corner so keep your eyes open.
Good food good service
Been going here for the 7 years, when they located somewhere else. They never let me down. they're food is amazing. More authentic then any other Mexican restaurant I been too.
La Tapatia has the most authentic, delicious tacos in Wilmington. The service is friendly and fast.
Fantastic food and service! I eat here at least once a week! Thank you La Tapatia for your service to the community, especially opening during the Florence aftermath, as it was my first hot meal in days. Truly Manna from Heaven. God bless you guys!
Out of respect and love for this restaurant I leave five stars. The food is great and the service always fast and friendly. But I cannot for the life of me understand why one of the cooks doesn't use gloves. I see him while I'm at the register, putting his bare hands on all the food. Not all of the cooks just one. Other than that, great place.
Great food! I wish there was more salsa, salt and peper on the tables though. Not your typical way of getting mex food, but good place.
First time- we were very impressed! Yum!
Delicious food and quick service. Awesome atmosphere
The food here was great, definitely more authentic than you get at most places. The service was quick and friendly. And the prices weren't bad either!
My new favorite place for Mexican food!! Reasonably priced, large portions and great food!! I recommend this place to everyone! If I could I'd eat there every day!
Very good food. We got our food pretty quick even though it was pretty busy. There was a mariachi band which was really nice. Food was definitely worth the price. Great place definitely reccomend it.
Wow! Very authentic and super delicious! And friendly bv staff!! Highly recommend!
Excellent authentic tacos with more traditional meats beyond just chicken and ground beef. One of my favorite places for lunch.
Awsome all around
Great food. Authentic and reasonably priced.
Friendly service. Quick fresh food. Would recommend to all!
The service is great and the food is excellent
One of my favorite places to eat mexican tacos.
The place looks like a fast-food restaurant with touch of Mexican decorations. The people serving are very friendly ; the service I will say in my experience it is great. There are a couple of dishes that I like; pastor tacos, ceviche and pastor Huarache.Their dishes represents a tiny fraction of the mexican kitchen that usually you find in Mexico's streets while walking in the plazas or fairs
Got a burrito here today; it was bigger than I was expecting.. I like their sauces too! Not really any vegetarian options available though.. The cashier seemed confused when my friend didn't want meat. *shrugs*
FRESH TASTY FOOD. LOVELY PEOPLE.
Goo food, music was too loud.
Almost ten years since I have been back to Wilmington but this is still a great restaurant new building looks great.
Great place to eat. Huge servings. Friendly staff.
Love the chicken chimichangas.
Love it. Go here whenever my wife will let me lol. A very authentic taste they're drink prices are reasonable and beer is always ice cold. They bring your food before you have time to really even think which can be good and bad. Free chips and salsa as with most restaurants like this but theres taste really fresh like they were made just for me.Stop in and give it a try I think you'll enjoy the experience.
Fast, great food! Will definitely be going back
Always good food. Consistently delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine off South College.
Our own little out of the way best Mexican restaurant around.
Chicken Chimichanga was good. Hubby had the Steak fajita was nothing but gristle. Was told that "sometimes the steak is bad sometimes it's good". Hmmm. Must be the reason you pay first in this restaurant.
Food was great.beef fajitas.Clean .Food was quick .employas were helpful.
I should have turned around and left. When I walked up to the to order, a girl was standing at the counter with her back to me eating. Someone came from the back to tell her I was standing there. We were notified that no sides or chips are included eith any item, so after ordering 2 burritos, one cheese quesadilla, two sides of beans and rice, chips and salsa, and one bottled water, out bill was $35. For 2 adults and one baby. I don't mind spending money for higher quality food, but our food came out barely warm and very bland. Service is nonexistent! I had to search for our forks and knives. No one came to check on us or anything the entire time we were there. Next time I'll stick to Island's fresh mex or Flaming Amy's. Where chips and salsa is included at a reasonable price.
The food was very fresh, and the staff was really nice
Food was okay. Service was not good. Cashier sneezed about 8 times while taking our order. The kitchen was 5 feet away.
Nice service,delicious food !
We've only been once but we'll definitely be going back. Good food. Large portions. Many locals, so you know it's worth a visit.
Don't order steak food it leather with sauce.
Great food. Friendly and quick service
Gd costumer service and good food
Really enjoyed the burrito
The best Mexican restaurant
Great food! We are new to the area and will definitely be going back
We absolutely love Mexican food and this has got to be the best place we have found in Wilmington. The burritos are HUGE and the fajitas are great. Pricing is affordable and its quick. This is one of the best places we have found in the state as far as Mexican food goes and we have traveled NC extensively.
Wilmington's fabulous Bakery, Apple Annie's, recommended AND AM I GRATEFUL!!! TRADITIONAL MEXICAN FOOD, ABSOLUTELY FAB SERVICE, FAB PRICES, HUGE MENU, CLEAN, CUTE, AND THEY JUST MADE MY DAY!!! THANK YOU, La Tapatia... FOR BEING FABULOUS!!! GRACIAS
Burrito and nachos were superbly delicious
The best food in wilmington NC I highly recommend la tapatia .
Great food, beer, cheerful service.
Went to this place walked in waited to be seated like any other place however to my surprise no one came to do so . I later realized you have to walk up to the register order your food and seat yourself , basically its like walking into a subway which im ok with if they only could put some signs up so people know that would REALLY help. Food was ok.
Food very good, Fast service
Really good classic Mexican great place not to pricey either. Plus the workers are very friendly
The food is delicious ,and faster service
Super authentic and delicious! The red salsa is so good, itcs so spicy it'll burn you twice! ;)
Good place to eat
Good spot for a quick bite. Authentic Mexican food. One star off because their soda machine was out of three sodas. Will try again.
Got the steak burrito and it was not very good. I think the meat was boiled or something. It was grey and rubbery. I don't I'll be returning.
Great place to eat , good service and great food
Very expensive, very dry tortillas, very awful services, never going back
Still needs some improvement but pretty good food.
Best food you'll can eat on this place I recommend it
Very good authentic tacos. My favorite place in town. The prices aren't very steep and they have a huge variety of dishes. Best part of the place is that the hot salsa is actually hot!!
The woman at the counter trying to take our order couldn't understand us because she didn't speak English well. My boyfriend wanted a bottled drink in a cooler behind the counter and he told her several times which one he wanted but she literally couldn't understand and looked at us like we were aliens so he settled for a fountain drink. I would love for places, no matter the type of food, to have English speaking employees in order to understand English speaking customers.
Their burrito Al pastor is the best I've tasted and beats any other places, great place to eat.
Buenos , amazingly fantastic sopez ...
Amazing tacos. Everything is fresh and great prices
