The oyster and kimchi sandwich was great! The main dishes tasted a little too strong for us, but I still liked the Ohio wagyu steak. The cheese cake itself was good, but I didn't think the toppings were needed. We liked the chocolate mousse. The staff were pleasant.

Review №2

Super quaint place with cool outdoor seating and a lovely interior. Such a unique menu! So much to try. The sweet potato donuts are so unique and decadent, you must try them.

Review №3

This is a chef based dinner spot in otr. Touching on dishes that are chef inspired and brought to you with a knowledgeable staff. Enjoy the short menu of delicious options and know that it goes through changes to adapt to the discerning eater. If I could make the suggestion, the chilaquiles were my choice and were a great interpretation of a Mexican breakfast meal.

Review №4

Wonderful, we had a baby shower brunch and it went beautifully. Our service by Rey was the best, very pleasant and caring. Great place and workers.Thank you for letting us host our party at your Wonderful food and bar restaurant. Thanks Sheila Merk

Review №5

Great place for tasty American food. I give this place two thumbs up. Prices were average for the menu. Reminds me of a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed.

Review №6

No GF options really and they don't have any dairy free options for lattes either! Not impressed at all. Especially for such a local "known" chef- if they added more options I may change the rating. Service was great though.

Review №7

Giving three stars because our waitress Eleanor was phenomenal, but the management and food are subpar. The fries and burger were incredibly plain, almost makes you question why they even have that on the menu in the first place. The falafel salad was very busy, with bitter, tough, greens that clashed with the overdone cheese and dressing. To top it all off, the manager never came to our table even after our waitress asked her to. Thankful for a wonderful waitress. Rough food. They have great bread though.

Review №8

Been here several times now and last night didn't disappoint. Fun to be back in OTR and sat outside with friends at tables set up in the blocked off street, very charming! The staff couldn't be more friendly or accommodating (especially our server Madeline ) and the food is so delicious and unique. What a wonderful dining experience.

Review №9

A favorite place for tasty american food. I love this place, excellent food & service. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. Like a restaurant in Washington I liked.

Review №10

Excellent location for tasty American food. Visited on a Thursday. Had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. It has a great atmosphere.

Review №11

American food and the feeling at this spot is excellent. I give this spot a thumbs up. The staff was very sociable and kind. The bill was reasonable.

Review №12

My fav location for quality american food. Don't fret if it's busy, it is worth the wait. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here.

Review №13

Fine place for delicious American food. You won't be disappointed in the menu and service. The service here is above par.

Review №14

Very good food. High quality meat. Very well prepared.

Review №15

We've eaten here twice. One was a 3 star experience, the other a 5, so all together a 4. Maybe we got the wrong items the first time.First time we got the chilaquiles. They were very one note. The falafel had a strange taste to it, maybe a spice I was not familiar with nor enjoyed. However, the second time we went, we got the more classic items, and they were very good. Fried broccoli to start, which had an amazing texture. The oyster sandwiches were worth the hype. This meal was extremely yummy and made up for our previous meal that was lacking.

Review №16

One of my preferred spots for American food. dropped in on mon i think. the staff was very helpful and welcoming. this place has a good design. ambience is similar to fresno's scene.

Review №17

Service is always excellent even when they have a full house. The bill was reasonable. Feels similar to a cafe in Chicago I loved.

Review №18

My gal pal and I went and didn't have a reservation, so we sat at the bar. It was a great experience! The bar tender was very social and gave us her recommendations. The food was very good! Well portioned and very well seasoned. Not bland! Will definitely go again. The drinks are great as well!

Review №19

My fav spot for delicious American food. next time i'll be back with my relatives. prices are decent for the quality.

Review №20

Wow. Just wow. The atmosphere of this place was like a bustling cafe and the vibe was very European. I loved the space. First, the bad part: I got there and had to wait like maybe 15 min, literally not a big deal. However, 2 different hosts/waiters came over to see that I was set and even comped 2 small plates after I had ordered. Management like this is very rare and unexpected. Now for the great part: I got in total, 3 small plates and 1 entree.1 - Fried Oyster Slider - great crispy oyster on a very soft brioche bun. 3 bites did it and everything from the Kim chi to the garlic mayo, just worked. I would devour this if it was a full sized sandwich, then ask for another one.2 - Marinated olives and Manchego Cheese - I am not a huge fan of olives, but after trying one, I can tell this was truly a strong flavor that the table next to me enjoyed (because I gave it to them after trying it). The cheese was amazing, it was smoked in a way that brought another flavor and blended everything together superbly.3 - Fried Pimento Cheese Fritters - little sunshine balls of spicy cheese joy. If bar food snacks had an older, more sophisticated brother, this is it. Perfect spice for a ping pong sized, fried ball of cheese and fun.Entree - Duck Breast with Chipotle marinade, smoked and grilled cabbage, veggie pupusa, and mole verde - something out of a food network show. The duck breast was extremely juicy and cooked to medium (slight pink). The cabbage was Smokey and deep and added a bass note to the duck. The pupusas were a welcome surprise and were filled with a slightly spicy, but warm mole verde and I was surprised by how everything melded together and just worked. The duck was well seasoned and all in all, just a great plate. Gorgeous playing and the edible flowers (I hope they were edible) made it look like a renaissance painting.10/5 because of the food, staff, and general atmosphere. I would definitely come back and bring my friends, family, or random person on the street so they could experience it for themselves.

Review №21

The little oyster sandwich was extremely flavorful. Paired well with the "oh thats nice" cocktail. Would definitely recommend you get both. Sit at the window seats and enjoy beautiful summer weather and an excellent meal.

Review №22

Excellent scene for american food. food was so fresh. the service here is great.

Review №23

Truly a lovely find. Slightly pricy, but arguably worth it if you're out in Cincy for a nice meal. Also, the kumquat sauce made that wagyu beef some next level sh*t

Review №24

Went on Saturday morning for I brunch as a family. Loved the pancakes. All round good experience. Price was right for 3. Our server was Eleanor. She was great.

Review №25

American food and the feeling at this place is excellent.

Review №26

One of the best Restaurants I've ever been too. They just find the perfect balance between food and service. It's feels both laid back and unpretentious, yet you know you're eating high end dishes that are prepared by chefs at the top of their game. And the fact that you can eat here for around $60 a person is an absolute bargain (including an app, entree, and dessert)!I've been here half a dozen times already and have yet to encounter a dish that hasn't been incredible. Cincinnati is very lucky to have Chef Salazar and if you haven't been to his namesake restaurant, make reservations now, you won't be disappointed.

Review №27

Super appetizing. i've had nothing but pleasant experiences here and plan to keep coming back. the place has a nice atmosphere. kinda of like a restaurant in los angeles i loved to visit.

Review №28

Everything from the excellent service from Steven and Kelly to the most delicious small bites and entrees do not disappoint. They please in every way. From the crispy fish to the fish and duck and inventive cocktails. I'll be back.

Review №29

Visited sat afternoon. staff treated us so kindly. menu is like a place in san francisco i liked.

Review №30

Deliciousness is one word I would describe it! I had the wagyu steak which was amazing but just slightly chewy not a deal breaker. However the best thing on their menu hands down the oyster sliders OMG I could eat 10 of them easy.

Review №31

I've never been somewhere with a menu quite like Lalo! We were expecting Mexican Asian fusion and we got just that! Their menu was full of one-of-a-kind dishes! I ordered a chicken curry burrito. It was huge! I could only successfully eat half of it and I took the rest to go! The sweet and spicy balance was perfect!

Review №32

GETTHEBROCCOLI it's flash fried and comes with one of the best Aioli's known to mankind! I also ordered the chicken with fingerling tomatoes and you can taste the care and precision. It was fantastic dish-Lots of butter, lemon, fresh herbs and a perfectly cooked chicken breast. The gnocchi is also delicious-fruity from the local tomatoes alone.I could tell it was a dish from the same owner of Mita's restaurant, which showcases the same grade of local-prepared excellence.

Review №33

A favorite spot for American food. it has an awesome atmosphere.

Review №34

One of the best and most consistent restaurants in Cincinnati. They have some great staples on the menu and season innovations that let you try new meals every time you dine there. One of my personal favorite restaurants in the city, we go regularly and take people there whenever we have visitors in town. It never disappoints.

Review №35

INCREDIBLE! The gnocchi was on point, apple butter parm chicken was amazing, and the choc de creme was literally to die for. Thanks to the staff for making this quaint little spot a wonderful way to end my Cincinnati visit. I will definitely be back!

Review №36

This restaurant is my favored. I visit plenty of restaurants but to this place I constantly return again and again. The stuff is very warm and the food they offer is so yummy. I would always prefer to have a nice meal in this restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

Review №37

A preferred spot for American food. I'll return friends next time. The prices are well within reason for the quality.

Review №38

Amazing food! Option to sit indoor and outdoor.

Review №39

The staff was helpful and kind. prices that are reasonable.

Review №40

I've been here a few times and have enjoyed it each time. The dishes are always cooked perfectly and the flavors of each component on the dish has always melded together just right. I'm always looking to return and see what dishes are available each season.

Review №41

A favorite small restaurant and bar, pub atmosphere. Early in the OTR restaurant revival effort. Excellent savory dishes. Warms the soul during harshest winter months and feels right when wearing shorts in middle of the summer.

Review №42

Great meal! We hand the Amish Chicken and Hangar Steak. Both were wonderful. Plus to start some Lazy Pierogi. Dessert was carrot cake and snores cheesecake. Everything was delicious. Great service as well!

Review №43

Our experience here was 100 per cent PERFECT. Have not been able to say that about any restaurant for a long time. Not a single aspect of our visit was anything but wonderful.

Review №44

We recently stopped by for Sunday brunch. The menu features a good selection of sweet and savory dishes and lives up to the Salazar dinner menu. The pancake starter was somewhat more than a small bite and very tasty was a blueberry compote. The pork belly had a great texture an excellent flavors. Service was a bit off though. Definitely a great new option for brunch!

Review №45

Upscale food, good for vegan and vegetarian choices. The bread is delicious. There's a bar inside, and the restaurant isn't very large, so it can get a bit loud and cramped, but the atmosphere is always pleasant.

Review №46

Unnecessarily overpriced, but good customer service overall.

Review №47

Salazar should be on everyone's Cincy restaurant busket list, staff are extremely knowledgeable and always have a recommendation for a pairing. A truly magical dining experience. Thank you Chef Jose Salazar!

Review №48

A delightful little bistro where everything on the menu is delicious with bold flavors. A small oasis really.

Review №49

The adults only night mainly consisted of going to dinner. And as a person who loves food, I probably make too big deal out of what I eat in cities I don't visit often. So it was a bold choice for my friend to pick a place he had never been before. But after reading the review of the very trustworthy Cindy G, I knew I was in for a treat.

Review №50

We had the fried oyster slider, pork belly grits, and the steak and eggs for brunch. Everything was amazing, we did not have a wait to be seated and all the staff were super polite!

Review №51

Always delicious, top 1 or 2 spots in the city for me. This is the red fish with crispy skin and a green curry.

Review №52

The space inside is pretty small. We fortunately had a reservation and didn't have to wait at all. The service was top notch throughout the entire meal and it started with very prompt drinks and fantastic descriptions. We decided to start off with the bread and bone marrow butter and shrimp and grits. These two still feel like the stars of the night even though the entrees were really good.

Review №53

The food was delicious! It came out quickly, even though the place was packed and was hot and fresh. The service was, prompt, friendly, and helpful. Recommended highly

Review №54

They serve big portions and for reasonable pricing. very kind employees. Highly recommended.

Review №55

I came at an early hour on a weekday. I basically came straight from the airport looking like I hadn't slept in 4 days, yet everyone was still super nice. There were plenty of seats, but I was alone so I decided to sit at the bar. Kelly (sp?) was my bartender and server. She was a superstar. She steered me towards amazing drinks, apps, the perfect entree, and she had good insights into the Cincinnati area as well. The rest of the staff was friendly as well, and the everything I ate was delicious. Drinks were solid as well.

Review №56

Jose o a great chef and never had a bad meal from Jose and it's good the first no need to complainBarry Bullins long time friend with JoséGreat food jose

Review №57

Exceptional and flavorful food, I love the atmosphere the spot has, and the employees were very kind. I will definitely come back again.

Review №58

Far and away one if the best and most interesting restaurants in OTR with exciting cocktails and entrees on a regularly changing menu. Weekend brunch is affordable and among the best available in Cincinnati. I cannot recommend Salazar enough!

Review №59

The food was great and the staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the wagyu steak and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Also, the braised pork belly is amazing and I would get it every time. However, the resturant is on a narrow street and parking can be difficult.

Review №60

This was probably one of the best fine dining experiences I've had in Cincinnati. Each course was uniquely beautiful and had its own flavor set. We got two starters, two main dishes, and a dessert! The starters were farm fresh and you could tell were inspired by local items. There was heavy use of local vegetables and locally grown artisan food items like polenta, watermelon radishes, and eggs. The crispy skin reddish was delicious in the curry sauce and on rice. Scallops were good but not as good as the "off menu" polenta we enjoyed. We also gave the everything bagel salmon a 9/10! Dessert was to die for with cider soaked local pears and a white chocolate semi-frozen mousse. I also enjoyed their wine list! This is a must visit dining establishment in the city.

Review №61

I decided to recommend this restaurant to the whole team since our italian colleague will be leaving us and going back to his home town

Review №62

Visited this restaurant during Cincinnati's burger week & had their delicious burgers. There are so many other delicious looking things on the menu that I cant wait to go back! If you'd like to try one of their cocktails, I highly recommend the Bruce Banner with bourbon.

Review №63

One of the very best brunch spots in the city, and certainly my favorite place to get brunch in OTR. Excellent food and service as always.

Review №64

Great place to dine! Menu changes every 6 weeks according to the season!

Review №65

We were seated immediately once we went back over at a nice 2 person table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive as we asked many questions since it was our first time here. I was very impressed that she was very cognizant of our time frame and had asked if we had a show to get to tonight or any other timely plans after our meal.

Review №66

Always a great experience at Salazar. Excellent atmosphere and service. Of course the food never disappoints.

Review №67

The food are all great and yummy! You may need to have a booking

Review №68

Good. Really good. Our party sampled most of the entrees and some of the appetizers. I had the salmon special. It melted in the mouth. Their 20 year Tawny Port was excellent as well. Overall the cost was ~ $80 per person including tip.

Review №69

Fun, busy. Staff very friendly. The menu was imaginative the food was perfectly prepared. Cocktails were delicious as well.

Review №70

Phenomenal food. A bit noisy. Cozy atmosphere.

Review №71

Overall my favorite restaurant (and chef) in Cincinnati. Great food, drinks, and variety. The "everything" salmon is awesome! Everything I've ordered here is consistently great and I always make a point to recommend it to friends.

Review №72

Of course I had to get the ribs and the Saratoga chips. I couldn't find the full rack but I down those chips. I don't know what Saratoga chips mean but I want all chips to be Saratoga-ed from now on. The sauce is very good. The ribs fell off the bones. The sauce can be a bit overwhelming because there is a lot of it. I don't think it's as good as the BBQ I've had at Kansas City.

Review №73

The curry was awesome. The salmon bagel monstrosity was awesome. The Mexican street corn was awesome. The fried oyster sandwich was awesome. The drinks were awesome. Great place for a date.

Review №74

Everything we tried was delicious - fried broccoli, quail, wine. Fun tile floors, good service. Will definitely be back.

Review №75

Really great food, nice ambiance. Small space so it can get loud when the place is full. They change their menu every 2 weeks. Small menu so thats always a good sign.

Review №76

Good solid place. Very small and loud. Meals are tasty, but portion sizes were smaller. Was a good one time try for me.Brussel sprouts-saltyScallop-tasty, but smallKale salad-saltyPasta- delicious

Review №77

Had high expectations and they were met.Very attentive and knowledgeable staff, all of them doing the work for the guests.

Review №78

Very friendly service. Delicious food and wine. Great place.

Review №79

A little bit expensive but you'll love the food here. I don't normally break from my tried and true ingredients but this place is great if you want to exercise your pallet. Food is served to you like an episode of Master Chef where the contestants announce the ingredients to Chef Gordan Ramsey. Pretty cool.

Review №80

We made a reservation here for a special occasion. The server was such a snot to me I worried I might have dog poop on my shoe. When I read the menu, I thought wow, that's weird. When I started eating my $30 entrée, I thought wow, that's boring. The other person's meal was too salty to eat and more than half was thrown away. The cocktails were good; the room was small and very loud.

Review №81

Misleading. When I called for a reservation, I was told it was booked and to try the bar. When we arrived we were told we needed a reservation for the bar. Poor communication. The food is not good enough to justify the snobbery I experienced.

Review №82

Outstanding brunch trifecta: food + service + atmosphere. Only challenge is deciding what to order. Our party of three each ordered different: benedict, quiche, chilaquiles. Three thumbs up.

Review №83

Wonderful meal! Ate dinner with another couple and everyone loved their food. Started off with the oyster sandwich and broccoli. Then my wife and I had the hangar steak and everything salmon. Both were great but the steak was super tender and flavorful. Finished off with a dessert trio lead by a warm carrot cake that was the best we had ever had. Chef Erin is doing wonderful work here and has put Salazar's into our top 10 restaurants in town!

Review №84

My small dish of mediocre pasta was $24. Burnt bread was $7. (Literally 5 slices of bread was $7) A small chicken breast with a little cream sauce was $26. The food wasn't bad, it wasn't anything more spectacular than could be fixed easily at home for one fifth the price. Had the meals been priced appropriately, I'd had a better review of average food at an average price, but instead its average food at an exorbitant price.

Review №85

Great place! For was fantastic. Service was great. Had a wonderful time for it anniversary.

Review №86

A small and very cozy atmosphere. The food quality, flavor, and presentation was excellent. The service was also top notch. Very professional and friendly. I am already planning the dishes for my next visit.

Review №87

A nice variety of thoughtful foodie dishes. Had a cucumber and peach summer salad that was quite good. Nice for a leisurely lunch in otr.

Review №88

Great food, fantastic service.

Review №89

Salazar has a relatively casual ambience and wonderful, imaginative food. Service was also excellent. It was a delightful dinner.

Review №90

Salmon sandwich was vet good. It was a salmon salad. Very light and refreshing. Great service and friendly staff.

Review №91

Elegant, hip dining with an intimate atmosphere. Expect excellence from each contemporary course selection with a cocktail menu to match. Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert while adding this delightful place to your repertoire of short list favorites.

Review №92

Fantastic ambiance, great food, incredible staff.

Review №93

Our favorite. We come as often as we can for a delicious menu and cozy atmosphere with great service!

Review №94

Restaurant week menu is creative delicious, and vegetarian friendly. The Old New York cocktail delightfully potent.

Review №95

Fantastic! Delicious and HUGE brunch portions, reasonably priced.

Review №96

Salazar is, hands down, one of the best restaurants in the city! Keep it up, Jose and crew!

Review №97

A few mishaps, but overall we had an amazing dinner.Red fish and duck breast apps of bread with bone marrow brussel sprouts, and gnocchi. The desserts of poached pears with white chocolate moose and apple tarts with a bourbon maple sause sealed the experience.

Review №98

Service is good, the food was a bit bland but the core ingredients are quality. The wine was good. Honestly, biggest gripe is the actual cooking. I really expected more.

Review №99

Ive been to Salazar for to brunches in one lunch, and between myself and other members of the party I've tried multiple menu items. I have never once received something that was not absolutely amazing. The pancakes, the salmon salad sandwich, the fried oyster sandwich, the salads, yogurt, everything comes out perfectly. The hollandaise, atop ham, two things I don't normally eat, fantastic. My absolute favorite breakfast sandwich, the croque madame, is absolutely perfected here. If you get a chance, go to Salazar. Adding comfortable seating, great attentive service, and the fact that on brunch and lunch it's super affordable, you have to go!

Review №100

Great spot off the main drag in OTR. Food, drinks and service were exceptional. Staff was friendly, funny and very helpful. In the heart of OTR, so really good place to people watch as well as have a great meal. Salazar is now on our list of favorites.
